  1. Years ago we tried the medium 02G on an R33 GTS with similar grunt to your thing Snow. They were good for about three flying laps of QR club circuit before they stared to go off. The 03G may be better? I reckon the SR compound is the go, you'll overheat even those on the way down the Sideling, and thats a big money stage if you can get it all together. Not hard to gain 15 to 20 seconds on your rivals with a grunter like yours mate.
  2. My bud Dean Grant was one of the drivers in that, but I can't get a hold of him. I'm assuming the driver was ok? Do you know who was driving at the time?
  3. Hi guys sorry if this has been posted before, but I thought it was way cool. Definately not your average video game http://paulwoolrich.blogspot.com/

  7. Thanks for the feedback guys, and tep Stu from Benson Motorsports helped me out with these, bensonmotorsports.com, and at a better price than I could even get them on Ebay Thanks again Stu!
  8. Hi guys, I posted this in another thread but it's a little obscure if anyone was wanting to find a how-to. I searched and found zip so thought I'd snap some pics of mine I did todday. ** I used two different size hole saws to cut the radii and simply used a cutting wheel to remove the rest. Lots of masking tape around the area to stop any damage from swarf. Initially I mounted the pins, raised them a little to make contact with the bonnet and make a mark from inside. I then drilled a small pilot hole, and then masked on the template provided and went from there. Measure six times, cut once I suggest! Made U shaped brackets to utilise an existing hole in the radiator support. The return down the front too to give some extra strength. Made these from 3mm steel. You can see I had to gring the bolt down a little to allow clearence. This is the drivers side from under, nothing tricky really. The passengers side was a little harder. I did this second to get the feel for it. This is a GTR bonnet so I hade to carefully remove some of the reo. And the finished product! A bit of fine tuning is needed to get them just right, and it's very strong, not going anywhere. As a bonus the rubber stoppers they supply were the perfect length to allow a little preload so no rattles. And a reminder that angle grinders with cutting wheels can bite.
  9. Ok, done and dusted..... these look sweet! Nice product! ** I used two different size hole saws to cut the radius and simply used a cutting wheel to remove the rest. 10. Sammy Stevens just posted one of the Rod Salmon Evo pit stops.... good to get an idea how it works imo http://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?sid=...QMa&u=TNh2T
  11. Yeah mine rarely gets street driven so I'm not overly concerned. I think I'll still run a stainless cable to the centre original latch just to appease any scroot that might be in a mood. I've made brackets, waiting for paint to dry. The issue with the R32 is the depth on the catches in relation to the radiator support. If it's a success I'll post some pics here ok? If it's a disaster and I wreck my alloy bonnet I won't be back. lol
  12. Haha Derrrr to me, didn't notice the dyno I'm about to have a crack at fitting some Aerocatch bonnet pins, they look like a real prick! lol.... I got rid of the vertical bracket for the bonnet latch because it weighed 2.6kg.... lol, what a wacka!
  13. Looking excellent Coop Nice little toy shed you have yourself there too Seems it is the weekend for getting stuck into R32 builds
  14. There's a bunch of 'glass ones around, but no lighter than stock from what I can gain from those selling them. I removed the hinges and torsion bars (approx 3.5kg), cut out the support reo underneath up to the area where it meets the boot seal (approx 2.2kg), but kept the centre reo from the boot latch to the leading edge of the bootlid. Then, pinned the front down, and used the original latch to hold down the back, mainly because with the spoilers on using two pins for the back would be difficult, and I couldn't be stuffed tryin to source T-handle spring latches. The cable will still unlock it, but I'm using a spare key Jinkai'd into place permanently in the boot lock as without the torsion bar spring tension the boot doesn't really "pop" open. ** sorry for the highjack, just wanted to show Roy.....
  15. I've got an offer to do it in someone else's car next year..... so guys, just send money.... Nice pics!
  16. The email I recieved didn't have pricing, but they mention it's cheaper due to dropping off the stupid dinners etc... I hope not too Kel! The NSW one sounds alright to..... here it is, just for those whom haven't seen it. THE AUSTRALIAN TARMAC CHALLENGE I’d like to officially announce the 2009 series - The Australian Tarmac Challenge! Formerly the Dutton Rally, the Australian Tarmac Challenge (ATC) is the old Dutton you know – but we have had the old girl on the treadmill, down to the plastic surgeon and onto the weight training. New ownership, new location. The Australian Tarmac Challenge is located in the Fast Track Australia corporate headquarters at 119 Salmon St Port Melbourne, with our new team as follows: Anthony Moss – Series Director Rennie De Maria – Managing Director Mat Ishac – Series Operations Manager Mark O’Connor – Technical advisor Kurt Stiles – Motorsport advisor Our team will still be assisted by James Taylor (Clerk of Course, Race Solutions), Bruce Foote (Scoring- MDB Consulting) and our many volunteers and officials who make Australian Motorsport possible. What makes the Australian Tarmac Challenge different: Firstly, the old system of Handicap and Outright Championships will go – and in comes a completely new system – Street Production, Club and Motorsport Championships. All three will have equal weighting and equal significance. Don’t want to bring the GT3 Porsche or the EVO IX MR? Bring the M3, the HSV Clubby, or even the Mazda 3 MPS instead – the Championships are designed to encourage anyone to enter and compete on-par with similar vehicles. Secondly, the events have changed. Some dramatically, some only slightly. Our credo is to provide you with the most motorsport activity we can fit into 3 days at great venues, and this is what we will do. If its not a motorsport venue, we will make it one – and this will become evident as we progress through the 2009 Series. The first event will be in Victoria- and the venues include Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, the now infamous Haunted Hillclimb in Morwell and the Moe DECA centre, and the unbelievable and challenging Holden test facility, at Lang Lang. Second will be the NSW event. Gone are Wakefield Park and Canberra, the NSW event has completely changed for 2009. The event will begin in Sydney, make its way to Eastern Creek International Raceway for a day of competition, and then up the coast to Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Grafton and finally the Tweed Coast where it will become and official part of the WRC event. WRC? Yes, the Dutton Tarmac Challenge competitors for NSW will officially compete on the WRC Super Special Stage – the same ones the WRC cars will use – of course all on Tarmac Roads. Combine some of Australia’s best hillclimbs, scenery and other bits of secret tarmac we have found along the way, and this makes the DTC NSW an event not to be missed in 2009! Lastly, we will head to Western Australia for event 3, for more fun at Collie, Perth Motorplex, AHG and Barbagallo Raceway. Don’t think Perth will be tame though, we are aiming for a complete shakeup of Collie, Motorplex and AHG – think head to head, mate against mate timed challenges and you will start to get the idea. Confirmed 2009 dates are: Event 1: Victoria 29-31 May Event 2: New South Wales 3-6 September Event 3: Western Australia 16-18 October Now we know that some of you will be thinking that the 2009 Motorsport budget is not looking too good at the moment, and you might think that all this sounds great, but will probably cost more right? Well, WRONG! The 2009 Series will be even more affordable than ever with different events different costs, and our low-fat Tarmac Challenge Diet designed to make it more affordable for you without taking out any motorsport or any fun stuff. Some of the dinners have gone, but we have replaced these with 10pm presentations at local pubs each night. The media stuff will stay and we are looking at more ways to promote your sponsors online and with video footage, with more options for you to choose in each package. So hang up the race boots and park the full-blown racing car. Steal the daily driver from the wife and come and have some fun with us! We will be releasing pricing, packages and full schedules in the next week or so. Of course if you want to make a deposit to secure your entry now, don’t hesitate! We envisage 2009 will be a huge year – bring on the 2009 Australian Tarmac Challenge! See you on the black stuff. Cheers, Anthony Moss Series Director Australian Tarmac Challenge Pty Ltd
  17. Sweet!!!!! I'm workin on mine, so can I say, Houston..... we have a light weight bootlid lol, kinda lame in comparison
  18. Yeah hot topic, keep it goin boys!
  19. This is three for an open face. I run a Sparco mainly because it's comfortable for my head shape, and as I wear glasses a full face is just way too much of a pain. Glasses mean even the Stilo open face with the built in microphone boom are a pain.
  20. Might work in favour for me post targa if I'm not carrying my car home in a suitcase.
  21. Yep thats the car, it's got a very faint purple in it, looks black mostly. The thing is mint, we did some practice recce in it and it drives like a new one, and yes, I'm old enough to remember driving a new one
  22. Yeah I don't understand why Closey is in Modern, he really should be in early modern. No one had a problem when the Porshe turbo was new and running agaist the GTR's........ why now?
  23. Yeah Snowy it's something I've been pondering since buying my 32. Bloody hard to work out how it should be done, as if the Evo/GTR/STi etc were to come into the classic comp lots of people would say it should be a cakewalk for them and you'd need one to compete. Although, that argument doesn't really hold water when you compare say, Broadbent's 1972 Porshe times with the modern cars, the guy ard car are very fast! And personally, I wouldn't bet on any of the STI/EVO/GTR brigade against, say, a Porshe 968 CS turbo, even in the wet.... I think maybe the best way is have a seperate division for say 1990 through maybe 2000 4WD cars (EDIT: which yes, is really what Stu has pointed out that Early Modern is). Stu's reading, and should be good for some insight......
  24. Oh ok... I thought I knew the car is why I asked. You know all the issues the GTR's have obviously, but my suggestion is just don't rev it too hard. Stay under 7200 to 7300 and try to "gear up" wherever you can, it's often quick as well. (easier done on circuits than hillclimbs though )
  25. Is White 32 not meaning Russ n Marks mint showroom spec 32?
