  1. Oh come on... please... I've missed it, what is "must love gate" lol
  2. Ahh Roy, I see now that post was ages ago..... OOPS!
  3. When is the event on guys? Roy... am I right in asking if you're lookin for a co-driver??
  4. lol, classic! I've always put an extra caution on that turn right too because it's always worried me! hehe It's one of those silly ones that seem able to suck you in easily.
  5. Oooh, this looks juicy! lol
  6. Can't spare a fifty.... but I have a GOLD PLATE here collecting dust!! lol
  7. Nice plug TT!!!!!
  8. It was the old engine from white's car, all stock. The note comes from the different exhaust and tune. Weeks did a deal to use their old engine because they made a letterbox out of the original engine block the thursday before scrutineering. Apparently the V10 snaps its titanium conrods when it's revved to 10 grand. And a big umahhh about the camera car!
  9. A case of "Trainspotters only need attend" this thread??
  10. Yes, thats pretty much how I understand it also. No one wants to bag the Porsche in public for obvious reasons, but Porsche Germany has said directly that there will be no "fix" for the Turbo's brain, and if you plan on racing or modifying a car, best go and buy a GT3 RS CS, which is of coarse, what Jimmy did. Although in the Turbo's defence, Quinny was saying that as time went on, he was becoming more comfortable with the 997's ways (active stability altering the "feel" of the car mostly), although he still thought his sorted 996 was still around a second a kay quicker. Oh lads, did I mention I was lucky enough to have dinner with Jim in Burnie? What an honour to share a table with my life-long idol!!! :-D And IF that was for me TT, thanks alot mate!
  11. Import GTR's (33/34), no. Not sure about R32's though, but I don't reckon they'd be competetive anyway. (awaits flaming lol) Dean and I spent considerable time throwing the idea of an R36 (or whatever) GTR for 2009, depending on what sort of a package it turns out to be. Our hope is that it doesn't turn out to be a 997 Turbo, ie.. too smart for it's own good. Could/should be an interesting car for showroom if Nissan decides to sell them here. Showroom just appeals to me because you'd expect a super reliable vehicle, and if your balls are weighty enough, you can beat da porsche GT2's!... as we did with a bug-eye in '05
  12. I can't wait to hear the Showroom plans!
  13. Every car?? I didn't even bother buying last years because the others disappointed me so much.
  14. Yeah, I get you, but everyone pays the same fee to run, if you get my drift. Maybe we need a 5 hour DVD?!?! I honestly see the Showroom category as a class of the future, and Appleton and myself from 2005 and 2006 would love to sell the blue GTR and have another crack at showroom (that we won in '05 and only had a little snippet in the DVD in the extras section!), AS LONG AS you could be guarunteed to be running against Showroom spec cars. I know of several this year that were far from it!
  15. lol.... Looked for AND GOT a bite!! lol I really hope that there's a good mix of footage this year. Even a glimpse of every car would be great...... would make sponsorship deals much easier to solidify.
  16. Good luck seeing anything besides top 3 Modern and Classic... AS PER USUAL!
  17. Just a quick note to ask who's doing what upcoming events. I may jump in with Catchy in his Evo IV for Rally of Burnie (he won it last year so the pressure will be on!). Then it's back into the 34 for Buller which I haven't done before so am lookin forward to it! For those who've done Buller, do you reckon there's much use in screwing up some power given we're not held back by Targa type rules?
  18. When I worked at a yard in Brisbane I sold a sister car to this one. The kit was beatifully engineered, and it had 18 x 13's rear and 11's front if memory serves correctly. It was plated by Veilside, and when the yard repainted it yellow (to get rid of the ordinary bog stock maroon) we imported the genuine sticker kit from Veilside for it. Had a big single as well, drove quite well and was pretty quick. Not my cuppa tea really looks wise, but I can see why some would crave it!
  19. Oops, I stand corrected.
  20. Sounds like you were having a ball mate, right up until that terrible Fern Glade! I hated it, especially since the long wait prior to starting took all heat from the tires and we spent most of the stage trying to get some back in! Compared to the Kuhmo tires we ran on the other R34 last year, the D02's just didn't give me any confidence at all in the wet. I was speaking with Ayers in the 33 GTR who changed to the Kuhmo's this year after we passed him like he was standing still on Arrowsmith last year in the wet(in 2006 he was on D02's). He said he was most impressed with his choice this year! We'll surely be doing some testing prior to the next event (Rally of Burnie hopefully) with tires, and will run Kuhmo again if they last alright on the big fat R34. My only reservation is with a 300+ AWKW car is longevity in dry conditions. Sorry again for your off, she IS comprehensively bent!
  21. Yessss, had a brief chat to you after you found your broken coil earth wire.... you guys did it tough! Back next year I hope???
  22. Well, back to sunny Queensland for me today! I'm already suffering "post Targa blues" Well done to everyone who had a crack at Targa, congrats to all who finished, and commiserations to those who suffered dramas or crashes... eeeek! Was great to meet some new faces, (well done to you and your dad Ben), and excellent to again see you Greg! If any piccies are around of #979 (34 GTR), I'd love to see them! Cheers!
  23. Hope all is well with everyone's cars!? Just dropping in to wish you all the best of luck as I'm heading down to Tassie on Wednesday 11th early, and may not get a chance prior. Wednesday PM I'll be at White Hot in Devenport to say hi to the boys, then start recce Thursday early. So folks, hope you have a great experience, stay safe, and hope that we ALL see eachother crossing the final finish line with big smiles! Hope to catch up with you down there. :-D Ben
  24. Wheels magazine included an R32 GTR (Aus spec) in their 1991 or 1992 top speed shoot out at Holden's Lang Lang speed bowl. They measured the REAL speed with an (at the time) state of the art Leitz Correvit data aquisition system. This got around the wanky wank "I did 780klm/h in a Hilman Hunter" claims from idiots who don't know about speedo inaccuracy. I haven't re-read this edition for ages, but I think the Porsche 928 GTS won @ 274klm/h. Nissan Australia's claim for the GTR was 245klm/h..... and guess what it did???? Yep, 245klm/h.
