yes the diff is in the middle but the crown wheel is off to one side of the pinion, think about it for a second and you'll see what i mean...it would only be a few millimeters.......I'd check them both against each other before swapping them....because they WILL fit but damage can and most likely will be done when the car is driven as it will place massive pressure on the lsd/spidergears.

yeah, i was there.....as you come in to the car park...i was the first car you would have passed....i was right next to a silver r31 silhouette with a massive rear wing...

Wasn't a bad night...was good to see so many nissans in one place (at IKEA carpark)... I left BWCP at 10:30 and although the cops had been present all night, they hadn't made asses of themselves... Car park was chockers most the night....absolutely chockers, and most cars there were of a high standard, there was even on old school merc there with air bags , scrapin the frame, tipping on three wheels and stuff......and apart from the vast majority of commonwhores and fords the highest number of cars would have been the 'lines again...saw a couple of people from the forums too, Lee was one, and the others i dont recall the names

the back and forth play in the wheel is normal...forget it.....as for the click forwards and gears and the ratchet in reverse.......i say check you uni joints on the tailshaft......but my gut feeling is that your wheel bearing has ben tightened to much and crushed the bearings out of round.......can you feel any roughness when turning the wheel while jacked up? i have had this before......coan someone record the sound? that would make diagnosis much easier.
