Cpv35 2003 - Battery Dimensions - Max Size
sonicii replied to _thom_'s topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
The G35 uses a much larger battery, not sure why the Skyline got a smaller battery, perhaps something to do with space when mounted on the left side of the car vs the right side. Not sure what the maxium size you can fit in ours, but the NS60LS is the battery type I have seen recommended. -
I have heard that a simple 'press-off' will only turn it off up to 60km/h, and there is some other procedure for switching it off for all speeds, something like holding the button in for 10 sec.. never tried it myself, so I can't be sure. It should turn off VDC and TC. but I don't think it turns off ABS.
-
yep, mine gets tested every now and then. There is an off camber roundabout near my house that gets stupidly slippery with the first rain of the wet season.

What do you mean 'true sense'? The 350GTs have VDC that can brake individual wheels when it detects loss of control based on steering wheel angle, wheel speed and yaw sensor. and it does much more than the basic TC that the 300 and 250GT has which just prevent rear wheel spin due to a heavy right foot.. Although VDC may have been an option on those according to the OP's info.

2005 Sedan Rear Brake Rotor Size?
sonicii replied to sonicii's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Well, I removed the rear rotors to measure. the right rotor (the one too small) has a diameter of 292mm, and one on the left (correct size), is 308mm. I looked up the DBA page and it seems the 05+ 350z (non brembo) runs 308mm rear rotors, and the pre05 model uses 292mm. I also checked the front rotor size as they are also different between the 2 year ranges of 350z and found mine are 320mm, which the DBA page also lists for a 05+ 350z, the pre05 models have a 296mm fronts. Also, by looking at 'private's' post, it seems the S1 V35 have single piston front callipers, but mine has twin. for some reason, I couldn't find any reference to the V35 having these larger brakes. every page I looked at showed the smaller size rotors for 02-06 skylines. -

Yes, I think the brembs were only available on the s1. Didn't know the standard brakes were Different on the s2/3. It does answer a lot of questions thought! -
2005 Sedan Rear Brake Rotor Size?
sonicii replied to sonicii's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I have done some further research and couldn't find any different rotor sizes on the G/V35, but did find the 06+ 350Z does have larger diameter rotors, so I'm not sure if Nissan used these on the V35 at some point? I will remove the wheels and rotors on the weekend and get some real measurements rather than estimating. Here are some pictures for reference, in case anyone has any suggestions. Thanks for your help.. I actually created a new thread about this issue on the weekend.. I might post some further info in there if you are interested, instead of clogging up this 'for sale' thread. -

I'm not sure, but I guess they must be, mine is an 05 350GT sedan, the rotor on the left side is quite close to 60mm and the is only a small strip around the edge that is unworn, like yours. But the pads on the right rotor overhang by about 3-4mm, which suggests the right rotor has been replaced with one for a different year/spec, but I can't find anything to suggest there are any differences, other than the brembos. The Callipers and the pads on both sides look identical, so I am assuming it is just this rotor that is wrong and not everything except this rotor?? Thanks for checking though! -

basically this. I discovered the other day that one of my rear rotors is smaller than the other and the brake pad is overhanging the edge of the disk. I didn't have time to remove the whole rotor to confirm the overall diameter, but was able to measure the figure shown in the pic, the small rotor had a measurement of 55mm, the rotor on the other side which looked correct was 60mm. -

Might be interested in the non-brembo rear rotors. Any chance you can do me a favour and measure the distance from the outer edge of the rotor to the outer edge of the hub? I found out one of my rear rotors is too small the other day and just want to check what size these are before committing to buying. The one of mine that is too small is 55mm, the other is 60mm. -
Embarrassing as it is to admit, after nearly 2 years of ownership, I have only just found an fairly significant issue with one of my rear rotors. It is too small.. I had the right rear wheel off, and thought I would check the brakes while I was there, and found the 2 rear pads overhang the edge of the rotor by about 3-4mm. Thinking there was something out of place, I thoroughly checked everything and couldn't see what was wrong. Until I compared with the other side. I didn't actually remove the rotors to confirm, but there is about 10mm difference in the rotor diameter between the left and right side. And the rotor shield is also a different size. The callipers and pads are the same. The right side (too small) is approximately 290mm and the left side is approx. 300mm. Although these are rough figures, I can confirm the distance between the edge of the hub and the edge of the rotor is 55mm on the right rotor, and 60mm on the left. A rough measurement of the hub section is 180mm diameter. I have searched the forums and could only find one size for the non-brembo rear rotors, 292mm, so I don't know where this smaller rotor has come from. I am guessing I will just need to buy a new rotor and shield, but I don't want to order one, only to find it is the same small size. Can anyone shed any light on this? other than the diameter, the rotor looks exactly the same. Thanks.

I thought all 70th Anniversary editions were 2004?? Also, that centre console looks like a Series1, which means pre Nov 2004

G35 parts will be the same with the exception of LHD/RHD specific parts, and some rev-up engine parts Non rev-up Engine, transmission and most suspension parts are the same as the 350z. But keep on mind the body of the car is different, which might explain why the induction kits are different, assuming they mount on the body of the car. Just the z-tube will fit fine!

V36 - Cleaning Throttle Body
sonicii replied to 30ONA's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I cleaned the throttle body on my V35 a while back, it resulted in high idle and was had to drive a low speed. An idle relearn fixed it though. Some have claimed the throttle body is very sensitive and can be damaged if you aren't gentle, but I am more of the opinion that you just need to do the re-learn when done. After all, under the bonnet isn't exactly a nice operating enviroment, so I doubt they would be that sensitive to a bit of cleaning. Checked the FSM, there might be a 'non consult' idle relearn method like there is on the V35. -
Polish may help, but if the paint has deteriorated or faded, a polish might not be enough.. in which case, a respray of the boot lid is in order.
-
does it really leave 'indentations'? or is it just an outline because that part of the paint hasn't seen the sun over the last 10 years? I wouldn't have thought Nissan would 'indent' the panel for the badges?
-
You haven't really addressed the questions.. 'what are you trying to acheive'? If you want the most 'intake noise', go with a pod. If you want it to be legal, go with a CAI. If you want it to look stock, go with the uprev airbox and Z-Tube. As already mentioned, if you are after performance gains, you are looking in the wrong place, unless you just want the placebo effect of more intake noise?
-
Sure, I don't think your price is unreasonable. Just the drop in prices for the V36 (and therefore the V35) in Japan, combined with the drop in the value of the yen is making it difficult to sell locally, unless you are wiling to accept a rock bottom figure. Most won't pay extra for 'mods', and would argue the transmission repair would be 'normal wear and tear'. Not trying to be the bad guy here, just judging the market as it is at the moment.
-
True, probably because of the prices you can import for at the moment. you can pick up a V36 sedan for around $20k complied. And if you are happy with an auto, you can get an early V35 coupe for well under $15k complied. It is sad that I can now get a V36 sedan for the same price I paid for my V35 sedan less than 2 years ago!
-
a bit of fishing line and some 'bug/tar remover' to get rid of the adhesive and you should be fine. Personally I don't like the debadged look, it makes me think 'dodgy backyard repair job', but each to their own. Certainly better than having badges in the wrong spots as I have seen on some cars.
-
If the existing rails and injectors are able to supply enough fuel, I can't see any benefits with changing them. With the mods you mentioned, the factory injectors should be able to cope easily. If you want to tune for E85, you might need larger injectors though.

Approximate Cost On Parts / Service
sonicii replied to Hagi3l's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I agree. the CVT wasn't a 'bad' transmission, but if it does have issues, there are very few people locally who know them and work on them and therefore charge big $$, and nissan also charge big $$ for parts. This CVT is unique to only a couple of models of Nissans, and none were sold locally. It is very different internally to the CVT used in other cars like the Maxima and Murano. As much as I like the CVT in the Maxima, I would avoid this one simply due to the cost of repair if something goes wrong.
