referenced to the website...there seems to be alot of that stuff from E2C. Who are a dedicated car club for exotics and very rare cars in Japan..."Exotic 2 Seater". They do alot of cruises around Japan and even had one criuse in Korea. Being a well respected club, I very much doubt they would be involved in much high speed street cruising.

As already mentioned...WHY would anyone be dumb enough to be proud to broadcast illegal racing. Here's the facts, Yes the cops over here are lenient, but when they do decide to go after you they WILL catch you. As Justin has mentioned over here in Kansai, the loop line (inner and outer), Route 43, Meishu, Hanshin, Hanwa expressway etc are full of cameras. Be it Speed or Surveilance, they are all lined up either above or beside the road. So they need not waste their time going after some tool racing on the highway. So why aren't they all caught, the clever use of swinging number plates which fold horizontally flat out of sight at high speed. On the spot fines are generally in built up surbuban areas which are more dangerous as pesdestrains and people are always about. Dave how are the GT-Rs out your way? I have only ever seen them on the Chugoku Highway. Over only seem to be used as highway patrol cars on the much larger interstate highways.

here is a better one for you...I've never really taking much note but it would be interesting to know the reason behind it.

Justin: did you read this months best motoring, I briefly flicked through it and Toyota is onto a similar concept with a future sports car (didn't take much notice of the name/model) with hybrid fuel cell technology. All seem to be heading that way, well Japan is leading and pioneering this field at the moment. MMC released details in Jan and the Detroit Motor show of the new Concept Eclipse with 4WD (Front:Engine + Motor, Rear:Motor). The hybrid system with Li-ion batteries makes a combine power of 470ps, as MMC quoted "an ideal balance between driving and environmental performance as it delivers breath-taking acceleration while returning low fuel consumption and low emission levels". As you said this is the future... Oh 400ps is pretty much what everyone is expecting now same deal with the next RX-7. Like many by 2007, I rather be in a nice luxury euro cruiser, me old fart then.

Very up close and personal there Brian... The new Tsukaba King

Anyone looking for an R34 GTR
Evo_Lee replied to Amini33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Agree...because no GTR will be seen until 2007, the BNR34 have been holding up well for a low kilometer damage free example. Don't even ask me about the MSpec which some dude inquired and pulled out the last minute...just wasting my time. Add all your taxes, shipping, compliance etc...a 3Mil example is going to be close to 70K already...is the dealer not going to make any money. -
Is this a value for money mod ???
Evo_Lee replied to Gizmo73's topic in General Automotive Discussion
can't see it but I assume it is an earthing kit... I've got a HKS circular earthing kit, but don't see any dam difference...bought it to see if there were but not that I notice. Just get a cheaper set if you want one, there are heaps around well over here anyway. -
Frank: your oil temp is reading awefully high dude...mine reads no higher then 95 degrees during normal drives and goes up to 100 when punting it a bit. I've also set warning 110 degrees. My sensor is also reading straight from the oil cooler and not from the oil lines on the block itself. Also what kind of oil are you using?

Bugger that I'll leave the husband role for him, I've heard a few weird stories I'll tell you some time. Hell you know better then to stay online when you were here

Following on from Frank and Merli, Japan has a very big market to cater perhaps the biggest for owners chasing performance to show...and TAS is a car and goods show. So there obviously will be cars fitted with kits to demonstate their look and cars fitted with parts to show their potential. These are what we call shop demo cars. No personally owners cars are shown at TAS. The only body kitted cars with no go you will find in Japan are kei cars, and their owners vary to females making them looking all cute to males who want to look like yankees. I can understand the female fixation for cute but the guys with the loud mufflers they are probably bozuzokus who have grown out of their scooters...I'll leave it at that. There are also VIP vans and sedans but these are SPL cars...with serious sound system. Can't say I'm a real fan to what they do but some do have the performance to even smack a high performance car to shame. Ultimately in every culture there will be ricers...get over it. I hear there is a rice show, there your more then welcome to point and laugh. That wing on the Z is infact the Nissan JGTC500 car which will be replacing the GT-R in their campaign this year, I believe it is very functional. Following on from Brian's (DaiOni) point full under carriage panel have also been proven to shave 0.2-0.5sec of a 1/4mile...as tested by on a FC3S...more noticably shaving off up to 2secs in acceleration between 130-160km/h. Also I believe you guys that have now visited Japan can now understand why somethings are...

I was totally f**ked, by the time I got back to my place it was 5am or something. I was wondering if you guys even slept with all the packing you had to do. Definitely will have to take the day off next time to make it all worthwhile...will show you boys around some other interesting part of town Tell Matty if he ain't interesting in Suki, is that her name...I'll be more then happy to be her gaijin friend

Afaik they do not used salt for melting snow in Japan they use anti-icing chemicals, snow fences, electric wiring and hot water under roads and sprinkler systems, avalanche hazard overpass structures (us local guys would have seen these around) etc. They are perhaps the most advanced country in snow control and winter maintenance which other countries look to follow. Let's not forget their frequent traffic updates. This also extends to sophisticated snow control and maintence for rail cars, heated tracks, snow fences and sprinklers system all work together to keep the shinkansen running on time, only blizzards ever stop then running.

Correct, good pick up...typo in my earlier post.

Chicane: no the (B) is quite obvious really, the engine fitted. B: RB26, E: RB25 and H: RB20 or more specifically RB20DE. As there is YHR32, YH being RB20E for GTE models; and for the complete picture the FR32, F being CA18i for the GXi models. R33 and R34 is no different, oh except the HR33 was actually RB20E but they couldn't be bothered nor do I think anyone cares really.

There was no HICAS on the R33 GTS-4, one can simply see this if you understand the model lettering. In R32 models HICAS was included in the 4WD system labelled (N), thus you see BNR32 and ENR32 for GT-R and GTS-4. For other models HICAS was labelled © as seen in ECR32 or HCR32. In the R33 models the HICAS was omited from the GTS-4, thus it was ENR33 and the GT-R was BCNR33. In the R34 models the HICAS label was completely abolished. From what I understand for Super HICAS there is no lettering, even in the Silvia and 180SX lineup.
-
No ATTESA? I'm pretty sure they have ATTESA ET-S, but as most people will say it's not a true real time 4WD.
-
OK I really shouldn't scare the newbies planning to work here :D I do get 10:30am starts and can leave as early as 3pm anyday I wish, course I'm so busy it never happens ...basically keeping in front is the key
-
Justin, I check a few sources and if they don't line up then it's to the books or calling up my dealer mate , but carsensor is very good place to start.

no no no..."25GT-X Turbo" that's the model name (not sure on the badging sorry) came in both 4AT/5MT between 98/05-99/07 & 99/08-00/07 so check for those built periods and you'll be right. Rest are all 4AT NA either FR/4WD, pity though a 4WD turbo variants would have been nice. I've always like the R34 drs, there is black GT-t parked outside my office lowered on Nismo rims...very sexy. note: I'll leave you guys to check what the trims/specs are, but the GT-X Turbo model was the most expensive in the ER34 lineup about 3Mil-3.2Mil when new...an no offence to 2dr owners this was also a more expensive car then a 25GT-t 2dr.
-
A 25GT-X Turbo does exist, it was only in production between 98/05-00/07. I also believe that's how the badges look like but never bother to notice if they did also have the GT-t along the bottom. In all honestly the difference you will find between models apart from trims and specs are the production periods and transmission type available for that period. Like the only difference between the FRNA: 25GT, 25GT-V and 25GT-X...is the 25GT was released as 4AT all but the last production period between 00/08-01/05, the 25GT-V was available in both 4AT/5MT but only for 2 production periods 98/08-00/07 & 00/08-01/05 and the 25GT-X was made only with 4AT in all production periods respectively. Primiarly the difference between the GT-X and others aside the 25GT Four/L Selection was they were also available in 4WD. Oh Dave this is the reason why I though you had a 4dr sedan...thanks for pointing that out to me .
