  1. Pretty sure the E30 M3 were only ever built LHD...the E30 M3 in QLD was imported LHD from Japan and converted.
  2. CM... Tuning support and parts for: Toyota: Mr2, Celica, Supra - vastly available, though the Celica isn't very popular. Nissan: Bluebird Sr turbo, Silvia, 300zx - vastly available. Mazda: Cosmo, 323 gti - speciality shops...still OK. Honda: Prelude, Civic 1.6 Vtec (Sir) - vastly available, but the prelude isn't very popular.
  3. there are 7/11s here , in fact they are taking over alot of the smaller convenient stores too. Frank... Rent should be relatively cheap as it will be subsidised by the school, how much they subsidise is entirely dependant on that school. Thus subsidy will only get the rent down so much, depending on where you live...Tokyo is quite expensive. Transport to work should also be subsidised by the school if not completely paid by the school. Else where is completely paid by yourself. There is alot of food places around, but generally if you want to save cook yourself. I cook during the week and only eat out during the weekends. Heaps of threads here or on PF. Dude, when you coming?
  4. Yes, Lightning Yellow <♯EV1> There are also two silver, Sonique Silver and Athelete Silver.
  5. The point both Brian and myself are voicing in no way says the MR2 is bad just the handling needs attention. A midship is suppose to be a well balanced car but if you look at the factory setup on this car in it's early days it seriously sucked and yet Toyota expected everyone to be a race driver. Seriously when this car was released the only people who could afford the car probably drove BMWs and wanted a cheaper sports car to pull chicks. I can also assure you they didn't sell many in it's early days because of this snap oversteer feared by the general public. As the car became cheaper that's when guys like us were able to seriously look at the car and set it up properly. But the MR2 can be forgiven, you don't expect Toyota to get it right the first time. Follow through with me, Topi you already pointed them out so you should actually know. AW11 nice responsive engine but lack of driver feedback and control. Get the suspension setup properly, wider tires and the car is a little go-kart. SW20 Ver1, small 14" wheels and small 205 tires at the rear, how much grip are you gonna get. Standard suspension and weak brakes didn't help either. Engine didn't feel as responsive as the S/C AW11 and that dreaded engine oil problem. Ver2, didn't take long and Ver2 was released with significant changes, ABS std, front wheels now 15" 195/55R15 & rear wheels 15" 225/50R15, enlarged brake rotor, sits 5mm lowered, improve transmission for smoother gear change, fixed engine oil problems, revised suspension, changed camber to decrease body roll by extending the rear lower arm by 100mm, harder bushes and strengthen stabilizers. Ver3, larger turbo, 3SGTE tweaked for more power (225ps->245ps) and response, improved transmission as ver2 was still difficult, aluminum oil pan, strengthen clutch and gearbox, increased diameter of clutch slave cylinder, BILSTEIN shocks, revsied suspension mounts for better stability of the rear during sliding/drifting, sports ABS, lighter body. Ver4, were cosmetic changes as they finally got pretty much everything right in Ver3. Ver5, as I mentioned Ver3 pretty much the minimum you would buy as the earlier ones required too much attention. Ver5 also mainly cosmetics with adjustable rear spoiler and ABS revised from 3ch to 4ch. How do I know all this, I used to be a fan when I was a young lad. Have drive a fair few in my time. Never an owner because I couldn't afford one when I was younger and probably won't buy one now...unfortunately a 2seater is not high on my priorities these days. Agree lovely car but Toyota should have placed a caution sticker...wanna know how many crashed early MR2s are sitting at wreakers here in Japan.
  6. it's obvious a low mount, as mentioned the wastegate on top and split pulse setup ideal for twinscroll turbo
  7. Merli, I could probably throw a few more names up, forgot to mention Nismo, BeeR, ATTKD, HRD etc... Prices for GT-R sports cats can range from 40,000Yen to as high as 90,000Yen, which isn't cheap. I mentioned HRD because they are the only one I know who make up to 100mm Sports Cats...everyone else make either 70, 76.5, 80 and a few 90. So perhaps it maybe better to get one custom made if you want 4", but seriously I don't think you need to go that big.
  8. Topi, the AW11 handling sucked big time. Infact it wasn't till Ver3 (SW20) did they get it right, if you can afford it go a Ver5.
  9. Do they know what an Eterna is...it's the wedge shapped Magnas. They must have done a shitload of custom work to the car. I was thinking a MMC UK delivered Carisma looked the closest but the boot is too high compared to the rear door line as well. It may in fact be a 3 series BMW, they have high boots...so good spotting. M powered GT-R :D
  10. Probably not, but over the pits and an emission tests...they will get you.
  11. WTF, Autech 4Dr 400R...that's just a BCNR33 4dr, please show me otherwise? Nismo tend to take Autech cars and tune it further not the other way around. Such as the Nismo 260RS based on the Autech 260RS but an even more worked version. And I thought we were talking about production models...else a V-Spec LM version would have been mentioned.
  12. How much power you after...a L2-20G is equivalent to a GT2835, a SH-25G maybe too powerful if you want to keep it a street car. I know an Evo with a TD06SH-25G will make 650ps @ 2bars. Thus the question which is constantly asked, why go L2-20G when the factory Evo turbo can run high 11s and make just as much power (~400ps), same with why go T67 when a TD06 can make just as much. Depends on the car, setup and tuning.
  13. Merli..off the top of my head...HKS, ARC, SARD, Mines (I think). ARC and SARD seems to be used widely here. I've also heard the GT-R stock cat is just as good. Same story I've heard with my Evo...I'm still running the stock cat because unless your running a straight pipe for purely circuit racing the stock cat is fine for the street. edit: 4" fark that's a big bloody cat...
  14. I was doing a quick search for the best route late yesterday then gave up because it was so confusing. Else you could do what my mate did and fly to Aimori and take the train back down which is a little faster. Best way is to email them and ask them the best route to get there. If you want to find 240Z tuning/parts shop, go to your local bookshop and browse through any issue of Nostalgic Hero...love that magazine If you coming down Osaka way and need any help give me a yell.
  15. yes, LHD in Japan = Prestigious...
  16. Guys you if you want LED tail lights you can make them yourself it isn't hard or you can now buy them off the shelf here. The names of the shop escapes me at the moment. But the question is changing your tail light defectable, I pretty sure all those Lancers and Civics with Euro tail lights can be defected. That's why I said this is probably the origin of rice - SE Asia is generally a poor country and an Evo or GT-R cost almost 3-4 times more then the Japan price IIRC.
  17. What do you mean Japanese specifications? I don't think there are much done to them for the Japanese market before release. 850 are nice if I was like in my 40s but a GT of this size plodding along Japan city streets is a task in itself, but then the Evo is not much better - wide track. Not to mention the 850 is also thirsty, heavy, slow and tuning parts are expensive...we all only want a car to tune/play with then move onto other bigger and better projects...tuning an 850 will burn my bank account.
  18. Justin I don't think it's from the States...but from your trusty SE Asia ripoff shop. If you know the scene over there, that's about all they can afford are Protons. There is another a guy where he made his base spec Lancer into a BMW 3 series lookalike. Perhaps SE Asia is the origin of rice, we already know rice is not governed by rich or poor because both do it but stupidity at the upmost. This probably comes from the same shop, and god it's ugly. http://www.angelfire.com/droid/evocoupeweb/wideboy.htm However get over it guys...if you haven't seen the US scene as Justin pointed out, they are far far worst. Civics with BNR34 face.
  19. Fark Gumma-ken...shinkansen is your friend mate. Map doesn't seems to show any train stations closeby too. Depending on which part of Gumnma-ken it's located, some local trains only come around every 2 hours...I shit you not. So expect around 10hours of travel time one way. I'll see if I can help you out with directions.
  20. Yanase is the dealer name. They are cheap because...consider 127Mil people in Japan and the ratio to rich people and you will know. Used Mercs and BMWs especially the basic models are cheap as chips...but parts and maintenace aren't. So not alot of the younger buyers get into them. There is market for them sending them over your way, so why not . As other countries have restrictions or regulations on LHD. I also know you have heaps of them there, my mate sends about 6Mil Yen worth every month to a dealer there. Have you seen how cheap a 8-series is . I could have bought 2 for what I paid for my Evo.
  21. fhrx: no worries, yeah Aust didn't get a TME GSR spec. But an RS2 spec which is an inbetween spec between a GSR and RS Spec, no stereo as you would expect for weight saving...so you're also correct .
  22. Circusmonkey: dude, can you still be a little more specific. You mention your after a project car...for drags, circuit, rally, something else. Your list of cars has no preference... FF, FR, 4WD, Midship, NA, Turbo, 4cyc, 6cyc...etc. Madza 323 gti?...I think you mean Famila GT-X or GT-R, there are information around. Unless your talking about the GT-A which they only built 200 of them. Sorry Rezz (Justin), but it's true you can pretty much find information on all those cars on the web. Until Circusmonkey can narrow it down to specific cars or criteria for the car, there's not much point in talking and comparing pros and cons...unless you really want us to go through your whole list...yikes!!! Sky031, try searching for JC 20B Twin Turbos, very nice car Brian: you've always been the mountain of knowledge dude...I'm a jack of all trades and master of none
  23. dude, which evo your referring to...they are fitted with Mitsubishi Cassette Unit, the stacker is optional. From E7 they are CD headunits std. Spare thought for some...MB headunits are Mitsubishi Units underneath at one stage...maybe still do, not sure. But what's concerning is the built in headunits on cars these days, you basically have to hack up the center console to fit any aftermarket headunit.
  24. something along that line...
  25. Justin, I'm also wondering... koredemo...boku shiteru, gweilo wa gaijin desu!
