V35 Coupe Install Standard 350Z Springs Questions
Seano350GT replied to vee35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I thought the track version 350z had lower springs, i would only expect 0.5 too nothing more. Installation on a full set of 4 springs would probably take a professional max 2 hours so i'd say anything more than $200 is a rip off but it's not very difficult to DIY. -
Alright so last Friday i had my brand new CD009 transmission (06-07), SS clutch lines, new pivot ball, new throw out bearing, new rear main seal, Southbend clutch & flywheel installed. Along with this i put brand new Amsoil 75w90 gl4 gearbox oil, and Penrite SIN 600 brake/clutch fluid. Now for the issue- When i drove the car home from my mate/shop owner i noticed that when the clutch is engaged whilst driving and changing gears, there is a sort of rubbing or gurgle noise. It is very hard to explain but if you can sort of imagine the clutch spinning and then having something solid behind it rubbing against it. Now when the clutch is engaged but the car is still, there is no noticeable noises that are the same as the one i hear while driving. Also when i downshift and rev match, the noise gets louder since i am reving the motor while the clutch is engaged then releasing when i reach the same RPM. Before anyone says flywheel chatter it's not that, the new flywheel is only a little bit lighter than the factory dual mass flywheel and makes the same normal chatter i always here when accelerating from a stop. I have been searching the internet like crazy and asking mates that have a lot of experience with cars and no one seems to be able to give me a definite answer without obviously driving the car. Some people are saying that it's normal for a copper mix clutch and that there is a "bed in period" of around 500-1000km, others are saying to flog the car do skids and see what happens lol. I got in touch with Coz from ConceptZperformance in the US who supplied me the parts. I explained the problem to him and he basically said that he's never heard of this happening before with the Southbend setup and he seems to think it's got something to do with the installation of the parts. But the bloke that did it has a great deal of knowledge and says he didn't come across any hurdles when installing everything and he can't understand the problem. He's just said to drive it for around 500-1000km or until the noise stops, then take it back to him and he'll check it out. I know this is a huge thread but it's annoying me a little bit, i have driven probably 300km since then and have not noticed the noise getting quieter at all. If anyone has any actual knowledge on copper mix clutches or have a clue what the problem could be, please share your knowledge and help me out. Thanks!

try some reputable vendors on here that sell body parts. I'm sure you'll find someone that can sort you one and look after you in the way of customer service and price.

What's A Good Suv For Around 15K
Seano350GT replied to iseekool's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah as Troy says don't even think about a Jeep my god they are buckets of shit also another thing troy says i agree on is the X-trails but i can imagine something for around the sort of money your wanting to spend is going to be very early 2000 model and more than likely have 100,000+ km's. I've had a few come through work they do seem to be very good on fuel (diesel) and cheap to run/maintain. Rav4 (if diesel compatible) or X-trail would be probably the best 2 cars in that price range your gonna get. -
i know i ask some silly ones myself. by the way, i am keen for those polo's
-
but all he had to do was google it just like you did i was correct too, same guy been making threads that attract trolls
-
isn't this the really annoying guy that keeps making posts about stupid shit, or am i mistaken?

If i was buying a lightly modified car i wouldn't be too worried, and just by speaking to the seller you can generally tell what sort of person they are then you could guestimate how well they treat their property and obviously by looking at it in the flesh. Yeah Mat, i emailed Coz this morning just to get a rough idea what it'd cost me on a brand new setup same as what Sheldon has. I've asked him to look after me, since i've spent close to 5k with him in the last 6 months so we'll see how that goes. If i can't justify it, i'll go a bit cheaper and probably grab a ARK grip exhaust or Invidia i quite like the sound of both of them. If i didn't plan on selling my car in 12 months once i'm off these silly p plates i would put more money into it. But, it's pointless.

i was also thinking a rav 4, but i don't beleive there's a diesel option at least in the early models. -
holy shit.. that is legit. wow

Yep, i know a bloke at Mitsubishi too that makes sweet FA on most small cars. It seems hard to beleive, i was told that information by my asst manager who's been here for 17 years so i trust what he's told me. It is definitely insane no doubt about that, as you would know there is mega-bucks in finance and after care products so that's where the money comes back into the company. Then with factory warranty, servicing makes an absolute killing. I was reading the details about the % of profit each part of the company brings into the business and service actually contributes 66% of the entire companies earnings. Plenty of ways for a dealer to bring money back in, so the actual cost of the car is not so important but to bring the car out from factory under cost is pretty crazy.

Coz emailed me back- He said that the organic Southbend clutch is very similar to OEM and should not make any different noises. He thinks that it's something to do with installation because as i said before he's never heard of this issue with the Southbend setup. The guy that fitted it all for me is out at work for 5 days i think so i'm not sure if i should wait 500km+ to see if it goes or take it straight back to him and get him to check how it's all setup.

Actuator Gone Or Something Else?
Seano350GT replied to hughezy_10's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Trav, did you end up taking the window out? how did you managed to get your hands into where the actuator is? please inbox me with a few tips if you can mate think i'll tackle it this weekend -
Yeah i hadn't either before i bought it but i was highly repped by the guys in the states, and being built by Exedy it's meant to be quite good quality. Exhaust is next on my list, don't worry! haha. I drive a shit load of different cars all the time in my work but never really ones with upgraded clutches. I've driven my mates Evo 6 before which is very stiff but that's about it. I'm hoping this is the case, i can't notice the sound when i've got music on so i think i'll just let it run in for about 1000km and forget about it unless i read something on the net about this sound and go from there.
-
do the noises sort of match up to the sounds that you heard from the nismo clutch? Yeah certainly, i do realise it's aftermarket and it will be different the only thing that's odd is that Coz has mentioned he's never heard of it happening with the setup or else i'd just be cool with it and get used to it. I just hope it's not a faulty clutch, that would be a PITA
-
that's what Coz said from Conceptz. he said give it 500 miles then contact him again. I also asked him to contact the supplier for me, he's usually very helpful so i'll leave it for him to do for me. Is it possible the system wasn't bled correctly or something? there's brand new clutch fluid in there. I'm just trying to account for everything and narrow down to what the issue could be. Fingers crossed it's not a faulty clutch, Coz has never heard of this sound coming from the southbend clutch/flywheel setup. I guess time will tell!

Anyone have an input about the copper mix southbend clutch gurgle sound when engaged? I contacted Coz again from CZP and he said to drive it 500 miles then get back in contact with him but other than that he has never heard of this sound with the southbend clutch and flywheel setup. Is it possible the bleeding of the clutch fluid was done incorrectly? i got brand new fluid in there. Cheers
