Its an allen key just in front on the lower bit of the throttle body (without going outside and checking... its fairly easy to work out which one it is)
-
All thats different is the bonnet, lights, grille and filler panel, and the bonnet catch support I'll continue to enjoy driving mine I do have a Tekamon bonnet, lights, filler panel spare atm, plus a set of guards

Ta

How much oil do I need to get to do my box and diff on Saturday?
-
A set of MR30 panels and lights will cost you $200 and get it on the road, and will only take you an hour to swap over when you get the Tekamon stuff
-
There was something else in front of it, could only see it from the other side as I drove past Hurry up and get your car on the road, I want to see more coupes on the streets
-
Well I wasn't going to stop for a better look

And for the record, everyone knows that the topline Jap engines have been making more than 206kw, you just have to look at the power and torque figues and what revs they have been quoted at to see that they have been increasing power over the years. BUT, they don't put RB26's in family cars do they? No RB26 Cimas (Yes, Toyota makes the Aristo but its just as heavy as a XR6) For a big heavy car the XR6T does pretty well. If they wanted to they could probably release a 260-280kw XR6 but a) they don't need to and B) its not good politics to release cars with huge power atm... HSV have dropped the GTS range
-
The XR6 does what it needs to do with a minimum of fuss. It's a family car not a sports car. It's big, roomy and torquey off the line. Why should it need to have a higher specific power output just because Ford is a huge company? It does what it was designed to do, and the base engine wasn't designed from the start as a DOHC turbo'd engine High specific power outputs are good (yay for the FJ20 in DR30 RSX guise, 100hp/l in 1984, and yay for the Daihatsu CB70 which also made 100hp/l in 86) but you end up with narrow powerbands and torque delivery that suits light cars with gearing suited to sprinting instead of cruising (quite why the DR30 is geared to do 120 in second I don't know, but......)

It's been 2 long years, but the R34 is coming...

I'd get the holes filled and leave it without a wing -
Well... I think all the boost leaks are gone because it would be running rich if they weren't and I'd be using more fuel. BUT I do still get a fair bit of unburnt petrol sticking to the back of the car, though I can't see a cloud behind me at night when I floor it now. I haven't had any problems yet (touch wood) and thats driving from Magill to Flinders and Para Vista most days. I don't drive it around a lot at night though, and I certainly don't drive it through town or at certain locations near your place. Plus as best as I know I don't have anything noted next to my name when they check my rego so they don't have any particular reason to 'randomly' pull me over. They do seem to look at the offset plate when I drive past them though, particularly bike cops. We're also trying to get some Law Students Association bumper stickers made up because I think that might be a partial deterrent to cops trying to bullshit their way into f*cking me over if they know that I know where I stand and how to kick up a fuss Plus from the front my car looks like a MR30 with no grille now anyway roflmao
-
What sort of fuel economy do you guys get? I do almost all of my driving around town (plus hills runs on the way to uni sometimes) and the DR is getting a consistent 10.5L/100km - 11.4L/100km which I'm pretty bloody happy about
-
The RB26 would cost Nissan a lot more to build than the XR6T engine costs Ford... The RB26 has to be able to withstand much higher revs and boost from the factory so it needs closer tolerances, stronger and better balanced internals etc. For the price, the XR6T engine is bloody good, and imagine what you could pull if you rebuilt it to withstand higher revs and boost, ran aftermarket management and ran more boost through it You also have to remember that other parts of the drivetrain may only be rated to a certain torque which limits the amount of power and torque you can let the engine make, and a 4 litre turbo is certainly going to make a mountain anyway

If you want it to look cool either dump it on some Volks with no kit... or go for a Vertex style kit and dump it... Custom kits from Jetspeed et al are just going to get you laughed at, as will airbrushing I'd still say its cheaper and easier to walk down the street yelling "Look at me, give me your undivided attention" -
R30 series is sooooo what I reckon Triumph would have ended up with if they leyland merger hadnt occured.... sedans could have replaced saloon series and coupes could have replaced the TR's lol Yeah, TR250 is a TR5 shell with a twin Stromberg 2.5, pretty gutless, about the same as a standard TC. Dad restored one 15 years ago, was the only registered one in SA for years, but it ran triple Webers and had black powdercoated 72 spoke wires
-
Cool! We've got a TR3A with 12.2:1, big cam, twin 40's (I think theyre 40's and not 45's) that runs avgas and has overdrive on second third and fourth, a Detroit Locker and LHD... thats fun
-
Hmm.... I've never see a 2500 triple SU manifold. I've got manifolds for triple Webers, and I know that the MD had triple Strombergs but that was on a 2 litre. Hmm.... 185hp would go ok... wasn't mustard yellow though was it?
-
Yeah but I'm talking '68 2000 Auto  I dunno how your TC went quicker than a PI, PI has 33% more power, a crap load more torque and at lower revs. The only drama we have with our Mk1 PI (daily driven) is that very occasionally the number 5 injector gets clogged which is easy to fix... leave the car going, undo the two nuts that hold the injector in place, pull it out and flick the end of it till it sprays again. That has had a $$ rebuild though (dad could have put a 1JZ in there for what he spent ) Our S will be quicker than a PI though.... because its got a stroked PI race engine in it and a side pipe lol

Jap R31's had 4 stud hubs. Passage is pillarless, R31 coupes are not. R30 coupes are though Rhett and gtr69 have covered pretty much everything else. You're correct in stating that the Pintara did not get the S3 update

I dont have a huge desire to make it heaps more powerful its quick enough for what I use it for and I have to drive it every day (well... I dont have to but if I take the Triumph I have to leave earlier), so a plug-in box even with a fairly crude level of adjustment would probably do me... though I was thinking about going all out and getting an Autronic But thats if they'll sell it to me outside of an auction

Ta for the heads up but I missed it by 20 minutes. Sent an email so I *might* get it Theyve also got a modified inlet manifold to take additional Z31 injectors
