thanks bloke good write up! i always put 5 L in my gtr, which is a bit over full but was told to by my mechanic, so there is always enough oil left in the sump when i'm thrashing it. the mechanic should know wot he's talkin about all he works on is skyline's. an their workshop has the quickest GTR in aussie land :)

changing the oil from a car isnt hard work,

but waiting for the oil to empty is bloody boring.!

...that's why man invented beer! :/

After the oil stopped draining i jacked up the other side & i bit more ran out

Just thought I'd add to this

After you put your new oil in, before you start the engine, disconnect the cam angle sensor (circled red in attached pic), then go to start the car. It will crank over but won't start. Let it crank for say 10 seconds or so. This will build oil pressure in your engine without actually starting the engine, preventing your engine from being starved of oil during a brief period. Reconnect the sensor and when you start the car you should notice the oil light turn off pretty quickly.
