hi guys/gals

just wondering is it Possible to make a r32 gtr 6speed gearbox for RWD only?

coz i got a r32 GTS-T with a rb26 in it. and it seems that when i drive it it needs a another gear high for the freeway driving. so is there any ways to Modify the GTR box to make it rear wheel drive??

cheers

bill

So it is all ready manual, not 4-speed auto?. If so, you must mean R34 6-speed, as the R32s where only 5-speed. Why not just use a 33 GTS-T box, which would be much easier. But if your heart is set on a 6-speed, you could buy one of the HKS 6-cog gear clusters, which would probably work out about the same price as trying to get the Getrag box out of a BNR34 (not including labour here), while being stronger to boot too. As for the gearbox itself- just have any un-necessary parts removed from the attesa clutch pack and plug up the holes. I've never seen anyone try to cut it off the side of the 'box or any similar mod.

OK, I don't have a RB26DETT in my R32, but it only pulls around 3k rpm on the highway. And that's with a 4.375 diff ratio. The GT-R has a 4.111 ratio, and the GTSt, AFAIK, has a shorter (?, lower number) ratio.

So, how slow do you want the engine to be running at 110 kph?

no, well, not within reasonable cost

mod the R34-GTR box you mean yes?

You know 32/33 5-speed, 34 6-speed.

Want better highway, change the diff to something under tne 4.11 it comes with

Can you even get (decent) after market diffs to fit R200 housings that have ratios below 4.111? Auto diffs are usually taller (ie. numerically lower ratio), but I'm just taking a stab in the dark here. Anyone?

S15 uses R200 (same housing as GTR,etc) and has 3.7 gears (from memory - have to double check but pretty sure that's right). Actually got a set there if your interested - I used the centre from the S15 diff for another project.

    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
