absolutely, and even if they put a competant race driver in the (as opposed to a drag racer) it stil won't replace years of circuit car development. If the BSM motorsport production car is at 1.09 and improved prod at 1.07 there will not be a bunch of cars at 1.05

The 1.07 is with the mandatory Improved Production 27mm turbo inlet restrictors in place. It would be a bit faster without them, but as Roy said, Wakefield is a handling track more than a power track.

:P Cheers

Russ - you suck. Your car is way too fast now.

Anyways - back on topic - Autosalon just called me to say I was in and that it is on Thursday March 30th. I had to tell them I couldn't make it due to Grand Prix commitments.

He did go on to tell me that they would be holding another one later in the year however and I'll get an invite to that. Hopefully it's not on AFL Grand Final day or something.

just got a call from autosalon

sounds like im in

yea baby burnouts

might even have to change the brakes

YEAH BABY!

damn i wish it wasnt on GP weekend, as i'll be in melbourne :D Otherwise i would break out the bikini and come and stand next to your car so you dont look out of place. plus i am heap hotter than most of the models the other blokes hire.

good luck pete. if you dont win just keep driving south to canberra and re-settle there as we wont want you back.

yeah, i think i'm flying down thursday morning. :D

i cant see how anyone else would do a better burnout, but you may find in a circuit battle, that biggest smoke show is not one of the awards on offer...

so do i have to wash my car

it was painted 1.5 years ago since then its had one tub

i dont know if i can bring myself to wash it again

I just received a call to so I am in and accepted. FATZ I will be keeping clear of your shit box doing the smoke show.

Did anyone get the name of the guy and a contact number from Autosalon? I'm thinking of changing my mind....

:)

Its 724km's from my place to Wakefield. I reckon I could drive up Wed - do this Thurs and drive back Friday and GP on Sat and Sun. Now that the 300 is in I really want to come. LOL

Do it Andrew, ill talk your ear off for the trip there and back :D

Its definitely goign to be better fun then the few days of practice :)

Bris - looks like Wakefield is open for practise on the Wed. Since I've never seen the track before I might head up on the Tuesday now.

Just have to try and source a trailer and see if I can get the leave passes then it'll be on. Might try and get Chris and entry too. He did just come 2nd in the Calder Rally Masters so he should be good enough. I'm sure he'll be faster than any Zeds there.

How could you miss this one Snowman. Fatz how did they let you in anyway did they need a example or something. You are bound to be a crown pleaser. I think it is timed only event not show or drift, so better change hats or try and reprogram. You Will NOT be popular fi you put dirt all over the track. Actually you go after me would be real good.

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
