^^^^ my point exactly- these racer teams have given F1 a very rich ,colourful and interesting history and the sport will be the poorer for losing all of them (if it gets to that stage)

If it does go to Merc F1 then its just another 'privateer' name going

Remeber Benetton, Minardi, Arrows,BAR,Brabham,BRM, Cooper,Jordan,Ligier,March,Matra,Prost,Sauber,Stewart,Tyrell?????

Also Shadow, Wolf, Penske (I think they had an F1) Jaguar, Lotus and Alfa Romeo. Benetton was actually something else before it became Benetton. As were some of the others. I am sure there were others that have dropped out as well just in my time of watching F1.

Cheers

Benneton was Toleman before, there's also Simtek Mastercard Lola, Forti, Brabham, Hesken (iirc), Dome, Gurney, etc. etc.

Simtek & Lola were two separate teams.

Simtek's driving force was Nick Wirth (Now allegedly designing Le Mans cars for Honda) & they breifly spluttered into life in the early 90's before going profoundly broke.

Eric Broadley was the owner of the famous Lola name, but their F1 drive (The last of several) was an even more abject failure. The arrangements they had in place with Mastercard failed to generate any real revenue & the cars themselves were hopeless. The disappeared after only one or two races.

Hesken was actually Heskett, as in son of rajab. Cars wre occassionally good, but the parties have been recorded as being epic.

I missed a , there, it should have been Simtek, Mastercard Lola. :)

MC Lola didn't even last a race, with the cars being withdrawn prior to qualifing at the AGP due to a lack of funds to pay for the engines.

I couldn't remember if it was Hesken or Heskett, thanks for that.

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
