I'll be at EC in march for sure.

I'll definitely be coming to have a perve at the Alpha.

Mmmm, 105, my favourite shape.

With a bit of luck there should be some old F1 cars there and some sports/LeMans stuff also.

haha, 42s are weak. ours are now 55mm bore.... lol. it's a farking weapon of a thing i tell you. nothing like driving it. such a tight, light car with well over 200hp, and it's such a crisp responsive engine. just awesome, it's pretty taily though and has given me a few brown underwear moments. most notable of which was losing it in a big way (and thinking i could catch it) coming on to the back straight at wakefield, flat out in 4th and put it around... and half way across the infield lol. not a good look.

yeah, please come and say hi, we are easy to spot as we will be wearing all our sponsors gear (the gulf stuff).

We'll come say Hi for sure !! ( right after they start selling coffee ) :)

:( 55mm S/D Webers !?!?!?!? Good thing the races only go for a few laps  Oh that would sound SOOO sweet @ 100% throttle ( in car ) !!

yeah from memory the 55s are actually a 48mm webber bored out to 55mm. They are farking huge, i'm pretty sure you cant get any bigger! It sounds lovely when you are up it. make my spine tingle when i put the hammer down. The nice extractors, and side pipe help a bit too.

Don't forget kids.............. Not this weekend but the next !!! ( 23, 24 & 25th of March )

Come and see some REAL race cars !!

You know....... the ones that don't all look like Magna's :)

terry could swap his hr31 for his gtr and run in the same race

but fortunately he has good choice :(

Group C and and Group A Historic Touring Cars is for all cars that were log booked and competed in the Group C period (73-84) and Group A period (84-92). Three R32's competed in Group A, the two Gibson factory cars (the No1 Winfield Skaife car is owned by T Ashwood and the No 2 car is owned by Fox) and the privateer Bob Forbes GIO car which Bob still owns.

Terry is unlikely to compete in the No 1 car and there are no plans for either of the other two cars to compete. I am afraid the R31's and the R30's are the only cars we are likely to see in the category. Terry did a great job at Phillip Island and will get even better with more track time in the car.

In Vic they will be at Phillip Island in Feb/Mar and Sandown in Nov. In NSW they should be at Eastern Creek each March, Oran Park June, Wakefield in Sept.

There are a few Sierras with Historic logbooks but no one is racing them atm. Bob Tweedie had his Peter Jackson car racing with us a couple of years ago however the car is now up for sale. Another Peter Jackson car is ready but the owner is competing in his Escort rather than the Sierra. A late Johnson car is in Qld and is also up for sale. A B and H car is also race ready but has not competed yet.

Gidday Scott, Mark Hooker here (I pit for Terry)

I've been hearing rumours about the GIO car, as in someone in Vic is buying it to race.

You wouldn't happen to know this person would you?

Or could you substantiate the rumour?

That would be great to see the Forbes car out there. What is the story with the HRT Walkinshaw at EC on the weekend...anyone knwo the cars history?

I know when my lotto numbers come up i will be buying a Sierra and binning it at the first round :D

Well the R31 fans will be happy. There is now a 3rd ready to race.

And was reading something from a guy in the UK...

"...I was at Donington last year for the RS500 reunion, the cars there with an Australian connection were the Moffat / Rouse '87 Bathurst pole car, the Rouse / Brock car which is owned by Steve Matthias who races in the UK Ford saloon car championship in an escort cosworth, and I was in my DJR sierra number DJR 1, this is the car that was second at Bathurst in '88 and sold to Robb Gravett for the '89 BTCC.

There was also a Texaco Eggenberger car which has a very good chance of racing in Australia at some point.

Andy Lloyd"

I cant wait for the circus to roll into Vic. Actually if my car is back on the road ill gladly drive to NSW as i dont think i can wait until Sandown in November

The '87 Rouse/Moffat sierra mentioned above is the car that has been recently brought back to Australia and is a chance of racing later this year (LOL...if things go to plan)

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
