Mate this is FKN horrible.

I would go to the police and explain to them what happened and how the car was taken.

Get the police to investigate and sue the crap outta those f**kers.

Please keep us updated I hope you get the gtr back.

I think i am going to start removing my ECU when parking my car.. i dread this happening to me infact i have nightmares that my car gets stolen and stripped for parts.. talk about paranoid but yeah I feel for you mate :D

Police is the last place you would go to get help with this sort of thing, for them its just "another" case and part of their everyday operations, its just another file on their "system"

They dont investigate anything or sue anyojne unless u got hard evidence.... (eg. u found the car and need to recover it through the authorities)

If you report it to the police all it means it will allow u to claim on insurance, and that suspicious cars that are pulled over or borught to attention are cross checked with the reported car...... they dont even require engine or chasis numbers in the police, report just rego etc...

Head straight to the police station and report everything.

As for the installer, go and have a serious chat to him. Ask him what he was doing the night your car was stolen?

I doubt it was the installer who actually stole the car himsef hes got a business to run, hes proabably got dodgy mates who he gives these dogy c**ts the heads up if theres any nice cars that he works on sets it all up and shit and get a bit of the cut from the sale of parts. Unless u have some hard evidence this dickhead and his mates are doing these operations at the end of the day they just going to get away with this.

Its sucks big time !!! dont go to dodgy places !!!

This person you suspect is behind the theft? I'd go and pay a visit, not that kind of visit, just go and see if he acts in an unusual manner while you're there, you can tell a ot about body language?...

if he is off middle easten backgroung he will look suspisious any way hahahaha

The installer in question is not the owner but a guy who is going out with the owners daughter and because he didnt have a job the owner employed him.

I spoke to a soliciter today who mainly deal with motor cars and they told me, based on the information that was left behind on the remote (that the alarm was triggered then disarmed) and the fact the installer did not explain to me about the "disarming without a remote" feature, and was convenietly located on the flashing led which doubles up as a disarming button(which i mounted on the dash for maximum visibility), I have a reasonable case.

What gets me is I have seen this disarming feature in other alarms but it is always hidden under the dash with the rest of the wires, sometimes even hard to find.

Why would such a large company like "directed electronics" make it so easy for someone to bypass your $1000 dollar car alarm as long as you have a key.

The solicitor said if i loose the case it would cost anywhere from 3-6 grand depending on how long it takes. But if we win we will be claiming 30 grand plus legal cost. They asked me to think about it and get back to them.

(sore a cool GTR pass by me today, f**k I mis that sound!!)

What does everybody think?

And yes I did go back and confront the installer and he did not look suprised, if fact shortly after I told him about the theft he excused himself and went straight back to work!

Went to the police on monday, told them everything and they said they would investigate it.

Still havnt heard anything from them.

f**k me! I'm sorry sorry to hear about your loss champ... she looked mint!

as you can see from my signature, I'm in the same position as you... only my claim is a little different.

all the best with it, here's hoping that it's a smooth and relatively painless procedure for you.

my only aditional comment is that most alarms (i've had a couple of hornet systems - one of which was similar to your and cost me a grand) have that vallet switch as a bypass in case the battery in your remote goes flat etc. Usually you'd have to turn the ignition on and do something with the switch then kick the car over. so technically you can do the same thing hot wiring the car and using the vallet switch.

also, a 3 point immoboliser really doesn't do any where near as much as people think it does... 3 lots of electrical wire and they will have your car with ease.

sorry to be a bit glum on it, i know it doesn't help but i thought i should put my 2c in.

Take it to the police and hound them.

If the guy has a pattern of doing this there will be a trail of commonality that his clients are the ones losing cars. If one or two people have mentioned this to the police it should all match up on the system.

Keep hounding the police.

which installer was it anyways ? just incase there is something dodgy going on....

The installers name is quickfit and i think the have changed their name to melbourne car sound. They are on the corner of high and yan st in preston, melborne.

I went out there with a mate today to sus things out more, and found out his 22 yo The land of goat sphincter rings installer has gone on holidays to queensland?

When I asked how he was getting up there I was told driving. Aparently he was in newcastle at about 10am today.

Now im no police man but how many people today drive from melbourne to queensland for a holiday today?

Then I told him I would taking him to court.

He then stopped talking to me and asked me to leave.

i doubt confronting the shop would do anything.. if they have anything to do with it i doubt there just gonna own up to it..

when you went there though did you chat to the owner of the store ??? or just the employee's ?

its odd that they asked u to leave straight away..

if i had a business and someone wrongly accused me i simply provide them with proof why i didnt do it..

their behaviour suits someone that has heard those words before.

i think your only hope is making contacts.. find someone who knows a cop or works for a telephone company that can find out home addresses, phone numbers, bank details, criminal history, business history... whatever.

going to court with that evidence in my opinion will get you no where.

your better off paying your mate with insurance $1000 to install an alarm in his car and use it as bait.

you have a better chance than $3000+ fees and no evidence

I heard from some people that they use it to create a key and seeing they got my number plates they can get my address then they simply come and take the car with a key in the night. Now my car isnt at home anymore at all and i dont even drive it. Just a warning to people for this new way of stealing cars ...

yes i agree if you have a key its easy, but you get an alarm installed by someone dodgy its even easier.

I never thought of that ,the lock and getting a key made up, the other night my bogan mates vl calais turbo's door lock dissapeared !! from in his drive way.

Leave the installer alone as he can have you charged for harassment ,can only contact him certain amount of times a week and certain amount of phone calls etc ,

I have heard of this happening ,few years back, big investigation because Campbelltown Strathfield car radios customers cars dissapear after getting alarms ,systems etc .

i didnt know u could make a key up from a lock?

How did they remove the lock? Was the boot forced open or did they use some kind of puller around the lock itself. Visegrips maybe?

IF it wasn't sure the large amount of court cases, i still liked the idea of attaching a capacitor to the boot lock and arm it with the alarm system, so when the alarm is active those wanting to go through the boot will be surprised...a little at least if they had a key :).....

      Well, the trouble with that ^^ is: The configuration shown is absolutely a 1-way, not a 1.5-way. There is no way that a 1.5-way can be said to offer LSD action only on acceleration. If Nismo cannot get that right, then it is impossible to believe their documentation. That ^ is not a 1.5 way setup. That is a 1-way.   And so now I have allowed all doubts to flourish and have gone back to look at the MotoIQ video. I originally made the mistake of believing him when he said "this is a 1.5-way" at the ~6:10 mark. Because what he did was take the gear assembly out of the 2-way opening and just rotate it one place to the left to drop it into the 1-way opening. When he dropped it in there, the cam was "backwards" compared to the correct orientation shown in all other photos of that config. The flat shold have been facing the 1° ramp side of the opening, not the 55° ramp side. And I thought, "gee that's cute", but I was concerned at the time, when he put the other ring back on, that the gap between the rings looked like it was wider then in the 2-way config. And then I said a lot of things in my long post on Tuesday that could only make sense if the guy from MotoIQ was correct about what he'd done. BUT... I have now done my homework. I grabbed a frame of the video with the 2-way config, and then grabbed another with the "1.5-way" config, snipped out the cam and opening of that frame and just pasted it direct on top of the 2-way config. I scaled it so that the triangular opening was almost exactly the same height in both. AND.... the gap between the plates is wider with the cam installed in the triangualr opening backwards. That is.... it cannot go together that way. There would be massive force on the plates all the time, if you could even reassemble it.  So, My statement on the matter? The Nismo diff is actually only a 2-way and 1-way. There is no 1.5-way option in it, regardless of what they say. Here's a photo of a real 1.5-way ramp opening from Cusco (along with the 1 way option). And the full set of 1 through 2 way options from their racing diff, which is not same-same as what we'd typically be using, but...the cams work the same. A little blurry, but it comes from this Cusco doc, which is quite helpful. AND.... Cusco do in fact do what I suggested would be sensible, which is to have rings that do 1 and 1.5, and 1.5 and 2. Separately.

      Well it wasn't as easy as I thought.... and it also wasn't in my original manual which I did end up finding. They discuss the process in the Nismo catalogue though and it requires slight machining. Page 145.  NISMO PARTS CATALOGUE 2020

      I'm an idiot, my intercooler is rated for 1000hp. I had clicked on the wrong product. Knowing the delta P would be nice, but I'm doubtful I'll do it. Now as for an EMAP, that would be great and I'll get around to it eventually but from my findings in my last post, I'm considering a turbo swap now.
