Has anyone got an atmo blow off valve on their auto skyline? Many people roll eyes at the thought on an auto as atmo BOV goes off when manually changing gears as you step off the gas pedal... should this be with auto too? Gas it, step off the pedal, out comes the "vrooom choo" sound. I know many auto VLs have BOV that sound pretty good.

Sorry about the wanky topic but I just want some info from people who did have it done.

Cheers.

I'm a wanker so I think I'm well placed to aswer this one

The blowoff doesn't work when the gears change in an A/T, just when you step off the gas. It doesn't work because you're not required to step off the gas during gearchanges (duh!)...

So the only way for it to work is to drive 'attention whore' style and: speed up > step off > f*ckin whoosh! > every girl within earshot turns around and lifts their skirt in your direction.

I love it when 'tards in turbo cars time their gearchanges or step off the throttle as they go past alfresco cafes and the like... it makes having a blowoff valve one of the key things that makes you a MAN... well. that and a pair of testicles :)

mate...

an atuomatic turbo car differs from the manual in that it has an automatic transmission

THE ENGINE IS THE SAME

so, yes, they have a bov and it makes the same sound under the same condition that a manual does..

as rezz said, this is not during gear changes as you don't take your foot off the accelerator when changing gears, but whatever makes the manual car release the bov is the same in the auto

i hate the misconception that automatic skylines have all these differences just because they have an automatic box hooked up instead of a manual...

i want one of thse skirt raising BOV for my auto :P

Yeah so do I! And to think all this time I've been missing out on all those ladies! I've noticed the whole BOV whoosh as cars pass alfresco cafes as well, I can't think of any such cafe in Perth that I've been to where I haven't heard them. It all adds to the atmosphere of an authentic outdoor dining experience. :(

lol werd.

guy who started the topic, ive got a blitz type s one on mine ( came with the car ) makes the whole "psssccchh" deal when backing off the accelerator... like waz said... same engines, only time it wont make the noise is gear changes... obviously. the turbo etc works the same otherwise.

I have a G-Reddy Type-S on my auto R33 and paired with the HKS pod and FMIC its an aural feast when driving.. :(

I get the pssscht sound when I let of the throttle quickly and I get the sexy flutter sound when I let it off slow (real good at making people look). Along with this I have a FMIC which further amplifies the BOV noises (especially the flutter).

Yes it is very very wank but I love the noise. Just be smart and don't let it off when police are nearby.

Also atmo bovs may give you stalling dramas.

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
