Grudge match racing, hey thats gona work for all sides and provide some 'good' PR. You might even end up with a tribal sort of rivalry amongst the supporters of each tuning house (kinda like the holden and ford thing).

I believe this sort of tuning house competition is common in japan and would provide a bit of entertainment for the punters.

We could have a points system for the year and have a big industry party and award presentation at the end of the competition year. This sort of thing would be good for the profile of businesses involved in jap-performance tuning.

Rev210 thats the best idea ive heard in ages for all the tuners who read this post DEFINATELY TAKE IT INTO CONSIDERATION it would be good publicity for your buisness..

With the whole engine saga it shouldnt really be an issue because they claimed responibility and fixed the problem at no charge. which i think is a very good quality for a buisness to have i no of companys to do the same and not take responsibility for there actions so to the little bitch whos spreading shit shut the **** up.

Hi Guys n Gals,

Firstly i think that we should be encouraging as many tuners etc on here as possible. The people that work on the cars day in and day out are the ones that we can most learn and benefit from - especially a chick like me thats trying to learn all she can :)

Secondly, I think debate should be encouraged but without resorting to slandering or insults. I dont think a difference in opinion should be shutdown - as we are not all going to agree on the same things - personally i like to hear both sides of the fence. These guys are in comptition with each other - as with any type of business you will nit pick the comptitions weak spots to benefit your business - its how everyone advertises its understandable - but obviously should be left out of these forums because of the trouble it causes.

From a girls point of view i partly have to agree with Angel - when choosing a tuner - second most important thing after the job the quality of work they do on the car is customer service - things go wrong understand that completely- its how that is handled is importan. Also the time taken to explain to dumbshits like me what has to be done, why it has to be done and the options i have to have the problem fixed - a lot of time the bigger tuners are flatout and busy and dont have the time - understand that completely too but if the customer service isnt there then it will lose u business because theres always some other tuner willing to pick up what u let go.

Business is never nice - i know that my dad owns one i see what goes on and i know where possible even he will pick on what he call the "inferior product" Up to us to make up our own minds and i think people should let us do that without bias.

I have learnt so much already about my car from this forum - its hard to keep everyone happy - but please lets try - we will all benefit from it in the end.

*Niz nows steps down from her soapbox :P *

this public service announcement was brought to you by adrian!

hey just wantd to add my words in here

if yall take a look at urselfs, your acting like little kids! (ooh i haven't blown an engine up, i must be doing a better job than you) this is nonsense guys come on! we are all here to enjoy, and talk about skylines and other various things? sure all you tuners ae on board here and a lil rivalry is allowed but don't turn it into an all out slug fest coz of some noodle (XRW) let him say wat he wants! don't go down to the lows he has? i persoanlly think each of the tuners on here steve, jash, lumpy, the guys from speedworks are great, i haven't met you all, hope i do soon but i have heard nuthin but good words about all of you! sure the occassional mishap happens? who really gives a ****? thats where you learn from your mistakes? succedding in everything first time doesn't make u the best! the best are normally the people who failed first time, but learnt from that! so come on guys i am getting a bit sick of this bullshit, dunno bout yous but i'm on here to share thoughts, and help eachother out and most of all have some fun! lets keep it that way hey?

adrian :D

p.s i understand if you ignore this as most of you are double my age :(

need the Denvers out there shooting their mouths

off.

here here

i agree!

if every shop had a big mouth like denver, noone would be getting anywhere!

p.s speedworks if u wanna get rid of denver , and u need a new driver for the r34 hehe i will be mot willing to help!

adrian :(

never mind No-rspect

the other thread was closed it turned into a slanging match.

yes a car tuned there broke, big deal as mentioned before things break with modified cars all the time, every shop has its good and bad stories.

I think the main thing to come out this thread is that we as customers do care about alittle about the companies history but if we chose to use a company and something breaks we are looking for followup service.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
