Well, guess the great Holden Commodore has come to an end.. I can't see this appealing to even the most bogany aussies.

The same has been said when VT first came out, after a month everyone fell in love with it and it won COTY awards...

I hated VT too, I thought it looked like a typical Jap car lol Now I think they look good.

There not to bad, but they deffinatly have some vectra looks. I like the look of the ss better than the statesmen (its too common a shape). Like nick though i hope they do well but i think there are enough aussies out there to keep it alive. Hopefully with them using overseas parts the price will be reduced as its way out priced at the moment.

so are they all single cam push rods engines still?

Which has a hell of a lot of R&D behind it. Notice that cars have that start rating, same as fridges (and soon tapware). For the power and the size of the cars, they really are pretty good on fuel.

Really I think people just want cars that look cool. Look at the 300c, really they are cheap shit cars, there is no other way to put it, for $60k you aint getting THAT much other than a whole lot of road presence.

That and holden might need a rebranding. Make the badging look nicer etc. And they REALLY need some engine choices. Other than the cost to do so will put prices up.

I dont see what your all complaining about...

I like it! I reakon it looks very nice - I'd own one. Obviously the showroom model will vary as those pics are shithouse and obviously not real...

Give it a chance

that ute just looks wrong, looks some someone did a dodgee photoshop job, just took the photo of the sedan and deleted the back section away.

those photos of it looks pretty crap, maybe in real life or photos of it with a backdrop might make it look better

I skimmed the article - what "secrets" were revealed?

There were no photos...

There were no pricing announcements (other than sub $40k start price)...

It MIGHT get displacement on demand... I can also it also MIGHT be able to fly. MIGHT means nothing.

There will be a price rise... There is ALWAYS a price rise.

Powered by upgraded engines from the VZ... The VZ engines were brand new, they wouldn't replace them already would they?

Heavier than previous model... New models are nearly always heavier.

New safety features... It was bound to happen.

So what "secrets" were revealed?

Yeah cos the silvia is perfect for the wife and 3 kids on a week long holiday going to melbourne from adelaide. Well done knob jockey. If your gonna compare it at least do it to something in the same class.

Similar in some ways but in real life I think the VE will have alot more presence - especially with a wider stance and a far bigger wheel arch and flares. Alread the 380 looks very plain, which is a very good thing for Holden, but a bad thing for mitsu.

well the 4wd monaro didnt really have much more presence with its flairs, so y would u think the new commo would? holden arent big on outrageous styling, all the cars r so similar. altho they are slowly improving as sales decline

but in my mind they are still a company car only

The only reason commodores and falcons survive is due to fleet buyers. I work at a petrols station and if a new falcon or comodore comes in you can pretty much guess it will have a star card cos it's a fleet or lease car. And they don't pay petrol so they don't give a damn. And it's really stupid having this big 4 litre car with one person in it driving around for work. They should be in small cars or something.

Basically the monaro-coupe4 comparo has more presence than the GTS-GTR comparo.

Definately hope so!!!

Im guessing that the Chinese push into the Australian market would make it very difficult for all car makers.

Hopefully this computer generated image will prompt Holden to release the real pictures and some more specs on the car.

Should be

But not everyone would think it a wise idea. For example I regularly use my work Commo/Ford to travel to country areas, a corolla simply would not do. What you want on long journeys are good air con, comfy, and a relaxed motor that can be serviced anywhere.

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
