BB - Hitman didn't tune my stock ECU - he tuned the SAFC2 which is in my car. The stock ECU has a lot of operating parameters as we all know - we couldn't wind up boost past 11psi as the car would cut out at 4.5K rpm.

sorry mate, silly me forgot about that. just when you said 'tune' and 'stock ecu' for my brain said re-map!

Good talking to you Joe :P

And thanks guys. :(

Links; he doesn't want to use your turbo It's not good enough, he replaces it with a "new" item! Bastard :P..

Hmm.. so flog off mine for 300.. pay for some of the intercooler.. hmm.. not bad.. not bad.. get an aftermarket ECU.. good $2500 upgrade + labour + tuning..

;)

Satanic Im from brisbane/gold coast. Im not sure if its because I had that on holiday glow or something but the women in Sydney are far more willing I found when I was down there a month back.

But f**k driving in that place, what a joke. Better chemists up here however if you need vitamins or berocas hehe

Checked in the coin compartment above your right knee? I always forget I have money there!

??????? no not there, found 2 buttons instead - 1 gave me decent levels of boost, the other gave me ridiculous levels of boost. No coins there - I gather I dont have a coin-slot.

ross80: you must be doing something wrong! Last time I was on the Gold Coast, all I saw was "hi-beaming" everywhere!

Tangles: you're just special! Where can I get those buttons? I believe the $4.80 in my coin tray is a small price to pay for buttons

Of course I am. LOL.

Im actually pretty sure you've got the same boost controller that I have! (Hybrid 2stage), plus yours has more kick than mine anyway! Now, my wife has a coinslot stashed somewhere, but hasnt dispensed anything to me for a while, all this talk of highbeams is driving me stiffly up the wall.

:D

anyways, on topic, Im pretty sure I'll be going Ball Bearing, not Bush

Dyno Graph is on my website... follow the link below.

PM me for more details if you want, Northern Beaches Performance has a few deals going on with Sliding Performance at the moment.

Just had a look at your webpage looks like a pretty good setup. Is it as easy to bolt on as the GCG one? Are both the oil and water lines used with the journal bearing setup?

Looking forward to seeing your results with the new injectors and ECU installed.

cheers

Until i see a back to back comparison against a GCG hiflow i wont hold my breath. at half the cost and journal bearing I can't see it being as good.

I am interested in installation routine to get it working and boost response

Just look at my dyno graph.... even though it's half the price and journal bearing, I'm telling you it is very comparable! I should really put my torque curve up :)

Nah, I'm not going to argue - my knowledge is not that great about turbos and I admit that. All I'll say is that I'm very happy with my pet snail and can't wait to feed it some steroids!

Installation is bolt on - provided all smaller fittings and all that are purchased, shouldn't take that long.

Thanks again Stan

The turbo's are straight bolt ins with only very small modifications required and that is to one oil line and banjo bolts/nuts which is very cheap to do and the following instructions will explain.

These modifications are required to assist in cooling and lubricating the journal bearing.

I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Please email me at [email protected] or alternativly just pm me :)

hey i know i sound like a newb asking this, which i am but what is the difference between ball bearing and bush bearing? any spooling differences? which one has longer life?

slide: money is starting to build up... one more week i hope and i will be able to try out this thing.

stan: hey man, im guessing your hitting boostcut? maybe? dunno? hehhee

    • Get something that can spray a bit, something like I'd use is a pressure pack for weed sprayer. I use one with degreaser. Spray it on (make sure you're fully covered up, you don't want that shit on you, especially face/eyes). Alternatively, a paint brush will help here as you can brush and work at the stuff quite aggressively.   Be aware, citric acid can eat metal away and will cause it to rust more later. So make sure you neutralise it when done, and give the fresh metal some protection. That hanger, I'd honestly bin and get something like the Frenchy's drop in replacement. The tank, again, I'd look for something else to replace it with. Remember, as metal turns to rust, it means there's less metal there now. So some patches of your fuel tank are likely to be quite thin.   Personally, Id focus on the front end of things, IE, how did the injectors get clogged if they're meant to be after a fuel filter. Then, once the front is sorted, I'd rig something up, even like a small surge tank, and make sure the engine is now running and all behaving. Then I'd replace the fuel tank and fuel hanger and pump. Also, I'd already be preparing to ditch your fuel filter...
    • That's looking great! Are you planning to do things like all hidden wiring with it, or you're planning to have it look more like we'd expect an RB in an engine bay to look like?
    • Haha thanks everyone, I'll take everyone's suggestions into consideration. If I do eventually choose a car ill post it here update on the mods I do.
    • I found the ingredients at larger amounts from a Coffee Shop. 1kg Citric Acid for €8.50 500g Baking Soda for €2.50 I tried it out tonight distilled water (I got from my ACs) and dish soap. It does get bubbly with dish soap. In just two hours the hanger has improved significantly and rubbing against any remaining rust seems to flake it off. I'm going to leave it a little bit longer and see how it goes. I have read that someone even used this solution in an ultrasonic cleaner to clean a seized water pump which brought it back to life.
    • If you like more modern stuff than the R series, you should check out a V37 400R, they are pretty mod friendly
