So it was went, kinda lost it, front left mounted the kerb at around 40kms..

Now the front left wheel sits arounc 1cm further or so back, had a look under the car and nothing apears to be bent, but somthing is as the wheel sits back. I made a template of the right lower control arm to compare to the left and it seems fine. So what could be bent that dosnt look it? could the sway bar be pushing it all back?

any ideas?

just so you know whats there, the front is basicly the same as a s13/14/15 silvia

swap castor rod from other side, see if that fixes it, if so replace castor rod & get a wheel alignment probably a good idea also...

I came off a ripple strip sideways and bent front left upper control arm, we measured camber and +1.5 degrees before i replaced it!.......

your going to have to get it on a hoist or jax it up.. take the wheel off..

it could be a number of things.. castor rod, upper control arm or lower control arm.. i did the same thing with mine.. the front wheel was completely f*cked.. the back was a little off.. it was the lower control arm on the back that i had to replace.. just make sure nothing is leaking

My wife ran up a gutter in a similar way in my GTIR and bent the lower control arm. I just took it to my local Fulcrum shop and they diagnosed it for free. They didnt charge me 'cause they knew i'd be back at a later date with the control arm to pay them to put it in and wheel align it.

I'd say just duck down to a suspension shop and get them to check it.

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
