Guys,

The entry forms and sup req's are now available for the next round of the WRX Club and consequent SAU Club Championship Sprint events.

This event is held at Gipsland Park in Morwell and is a hill climb rather than a sprint. For those that don't know Morwell is a tight twisty short track and is run with one car at a time. Similar to the short track at DECA if you like.

I'm excited because I finally get to go to a round for the first time this year!

Anyways -

Also for anyone wanting to spectate at a Motorsport Event - this is the one to watch.

The speeds may not be as high as they would be at other tracks, but you are close to the action and you get to see the entire track.

Its great.

I'll definately be going down to watch.

Any pics, map of what it looks like by any chances?

There used to be a website with circuit layouts of every track/hill climb etc around the world - even those not in use anymore but it seems to have died in the ass.

www.racingcircuits.net

And I can't find one from anywhere else sorry.

Unless someone knows Morwell under a different name from this list?

PMSL @ Budge - nice one!!! :)

Now the WRX Club have organised a cruise down to Morwell this Saturday for all competitors and spectators - details below:

Meet point 1 will be in the carpark at Village Green at 5.45am (pajamas optional ) with a departure time of 6am sharp! We will then cruise together to the next meet point.

Meet point 2 will be in the carpark at McDonalds Fountain Gate at 6.30am with a departure time of 6.45am sharp! Expected arrival time at Morwell is 8am.

Please email Clarissa at [email protected] so she can get an idea of numbers - just let her know you are from SAU.

Thanks

    • Yeah, Duncan is helping sell me back to Android devices. I've hated the whole Android head units due to their speed issues. Even in my old Hyundai Kona (2022 model), it behind the scenes was Android, and slow and shitty to start up. Once running wasn't bad, but still a good 15 to 30 seconds.
    • My roof rails are off atm on the E39 until the rust is fixed. I did find another little bit of surface rust under the rails when I took them off. As @soviet_merlin said I'd just leave them alone unless you're planning on ensuring they're properly sealed. I was on the fence about leaving them off as the delete is still a thing in BMW E39's but I feel like the car is missing something (er, it is, der) with them off and I'm looking forward to putting them back on.
    • Man, I miss having a phone that fits into my hand!
    • The speed this thing starts up is making me want to replace my old one. Though my old one immediately kicks into reverse camera as soon as reverse is engaged, it's clearly not part of the android system. For everything else though, starting up, connecting to hotspot, opening maps, starting music in spotify is easily a ~2 minute affair.
    • Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics
