Ever since i got a GFB Hybrid BOV installed with a pod it stalls... very frustrating as it also does it on the freeway.

I have plumbed back the GFB (has full plumback feature) but the car still stalls... sometimes you even try to rev it and it just wont go past 3 000rpm... very annoying and can feel backfires (this was on full atmo setting).

I will take off the GFB BOV tomor and fit my stock bov on... I hope this will fix it up... if not then perhaps the pod can also cause the car to stall??? its unshielded... so may need to fit the stock air box on.

Can anyone shine some light on this?

weird.

I got HKs SSQ bov just installed yesterday.

no stalling or idling funy,

Just make sure you block off the blumpback hose tite, no leak, and make sure the vacumm line to the BOV is tite and secure, and all adjustment on the BOV should be tite.

those factors caused idle funy for my BOV.

but all sweet after that all sorted.

they sometimes stall because when when they vent to the atmosphere there's air that goes past the afm but doesn't get to the engine. But you said that you switched it to plumback. So therefore it shouldn't be stalling, I'd be looking at a leak somewhere perhaps?

But yeah, good idea would be to put the stocker back on, and then see what happens. Then you can see if it's the BOV or the piping...e

ughmmm urs is auto yeah? hmm weird. ive got n aftermarket bov on mine ( blitz type s ) and pod and my cars never stalled before. are u sure whoever put it on put it on correctly?

Yep, auto. A pro put it on. Anyway I took the aftermarket BOV off today and put on the stock BOV and then drove around the block... still stalled... at low rpm, around 40 km/h. Then we discnnected the battery for 5 mins to reset the ECU... all good, then I fanged it past 7000 RPM and stalled shortly after... I then drove for a few hours and no problems what so ever... except when i got home just before, I set the turbo timer on 3 mins and the car stalled after 2 mins on turbo timer... really wierd!!

I dont know what to do, maybe its the pod also? Its unshielded! She never stalled before I put the BOV and pod on... whats a good way to tell if there is a leak... i think maybe a tune or ?

Ill see how the car will behave over the next few days... then if still stalling i may put the stock air filter on... or get the guys to check it out at the shop.

AFM = air flow meter

its near ur air filter,

its the 1 that have meshs, with a plug connected to,

try to pull out while the car is idling,

see if it does anything strange.

could be ur have a leak somewhere,

maybe a vacumm hose is not connected.

unshield pod wont contribute to car stalling~

Hummm.... I got a 34 GT-t Tiptronic, I also have a GFB Hybrid BOV, I have had it installed for about 15 months, it has been all good till now.

However recently I have also noticed my idle is going really low too, its stalled twice in the last 2 weeks, I am taking mine to nissan so they can connect it up to their computer to see if theres anything else wrong with the car. just as a precaution.

I checked all my hoses and couldent find nothing....

Let us know how u go if u do find the problem, likewise ill let u know wat Nissan say.

I have a GReddy Type-S atmo BOV on my auto.

My car used to stall a fair amount - everyone said it was the BOV but even when I plumbed it back it still still stalled.

Fast forward to getting a SAFC installed - no stalls now and I'm still running an atmo BOV.

Ok checked the coils and they are silver inside... no dirty stuff!! So obviously not the coils!

Gonna check fuel filter, afm and fuel pump today...

Also went for a drive yesterday doing 60-70 Km/h without boosting past 2.5 K and the car was fine...

Check your diagnostics first on your ECU. Usually if its an electronic fault then it will tell you. Do this first before you fiddle around with everything.

Usually it's the AFM, get it out and spray it with WD40 (those lubricant that u use to loosen stuck screws), spray at the middle part of the AFM which is like a little door hanging with two thin lines, and make sure you wipe the nets (exterior) clean. plug it in and test your car, if still stall try changing with your friend's AFM (must be same engine, you should know this right?) and test your car again, if it doesn't stall that means you must get a new one. If it's not the AFM, check your ECU (exchange with friend's and see). If it's not either of these, check your fuel pump

    • 2001 BE5D Subaru Legacy B4 RSK (3rd gen) EJ208 (pink injector) Twin Turbo 280PS 5-speed manual Full time 4WD "RSK" grade which means all of the above LQC option which means stock rear spoiler  I got it primarily to export to someone outside Japan who was interested. These BE5 Legacy B4 RSKs are going through a bit of a resurgence right know in Japan as they are one of the few cars from the "turbo, manual, RWD/4WD, 280hp gentleman's agreement era" cars that don't require stupid money to purchase. Which for some people might be a good opportunity to get as a base for restoration. If I can't find anyone to purchase it I will certainly be doing that myself over the long term. Why? Because it's properly fast in stock form, handles well enough for a GT sedan, there's still enough aftermarket and (if you can wait a while) genuine part support to make it a restoration candidate (<-- that will only get worse over time so it's a case of do it now or choose get a BL5 4th Gen). Mechanically it's fine, has only 89,200kms on the odometer. The problem with this car is that the body and exterior trims are weathered from at least the last 10 years being parked outdoors. I'm the 3rd owner, the first owner was the one that had it for 14 years and barely drove it, had a low-speed front impact (which didn't damage anything behind the radiator support) and got it fixed and sold it. The 2nd owner put most of the kms on it and parked it outside for the last 10 years, hence the door rubbers have seen better days but if you overlook those cosmetic details, it presents pretty nicely. There is some minor rust on the LH rear wheel arch which I'll have looked at too at some stage.  Also as you'd expect from a car this age, the clear top coat is gone, leaving a satin finish on the roof.  Mechanically it's fine (as you would expect from a car with less than 100K kms) but the steering does feel slightly vague around the centre position at higher speeds. So first on the list is to get the steering rack bushes looked at. There's also the Lock button on the remote which doesn't work, but the Open button does.... it means that the anti-theft system thinks it's always open? It seems like if you open the car and don't start the engine within 3 mins or so the anti-theft kicks in again without any beeps or signals. So if you got to start it after that, it won't. You have to push the open button again. That's how I understand it anyway. Just a small irritation but not a big problem to sort out. There's only one mod, the Wangan SPL muffler. Just a tad louder than stock. It's a really good mod for those who don't want to wake the neighbours but still want to hear a more prominent unequal length header EJ20 sound. Anyway I hope to get all those things done eventually, that is unless someone wanted to import it to their country from Japan (where I live). I'm open for negotiations as I really would like a Skyline... but this will definitely suffice in the meantime 🙂 *Disclaimer: This is how I picked it up from the dealer, minus the stuff on the back seat. I haven't cleaned the engine bay or done a thorough exterior clean, aside from spray painting the wipers.
    • Wow, even with the Audi logo centre caps. I love OEM wheel mismatches.
    • Welcome!  Can't go wrong with a Stag.
    • Looks good. Nice height.
    • Hey all, a little help from the Stagea hive mind plz.. I'm days away from buying either a 2002 Stagea 250tRS AR-X Four, premium leather, power seats and all the old switches etc that go with it, or a 2002 Stagea 250tRS VR-X Four AERO, pov pack, cloth seats etc, with coil overs, sports zorst, comes with original zorst and suspension and parts. (I think I've got the models right?) Both are VQ25DET, have 160000kms, both straight no rust both with $2000+ in recent servicing receipts, both ride on aftermarket 18" rims. The Aero has a replaced turbo as well. I like the cool factor of the Aero car but the AR-X has never been modified. Neither have been driven hardly at all in the last 5 years. Any thoughts on which one or does it come down to personal preference? davemoto
