Basically I had to pay off a whole bunch of debts. I kept some money to buy another car and the r31 is it :(:D

I've already done some cutting of the front bar for the fmic and put on some tints (Thanks Greg from Unique/group buy thread) :(

Just bought some s13 lower control arms and brakes today in preparation for the s13 coilovers. (Thanks to Kirk/Initial Imports, who can get you rb74 pads for $136 an end) Hopefully I can find some decent/affordable second hand ones. I've also ordered a intercooler kit for it today from gktech $349+45 delivery and they have kits for a31s!!

Need the diff fixed.. anyone know how to weld? I smell bacon :(

you bought a 4 door just so you could stay in this section didn't cha? didn't cha?

if you were in melb I'd ask you to bring the car around to give it a spray in the paint booth to cover up that nasty paint fade.

You have a booth? I was going to hit it with some matte black but I'm not sure how long the paint will last (at $3.50 a can). If you can paint it for me it might warrant a drive to Melbourne and some sanding.... How much would paint cost?

and yes I did wanna stay in this section so I can find rims in 4 stud with GOOD offset and cheap (i.e. it'll hurt the guards) then I'm there :D well.. me and everyone else. Or maybe 4-5stud bolt on spacers.

Dude why did you have to sell it to someone in qld. Down goes the price of mine again, market getting flooded :)

Good that you sold it tho, must be a good feeling to be debt free again.

Haha, I should be within the next month or so too. Quiting a job and getting a massive holiday payout also helps tho ;)

real men drive r31s. this is something that you SAUers will one day learn. awesome choice mate, you wont be dissapointed! should have got a silo though, is it gx (manual) or executive (auto)?

fmic orly, what motors goin in?

Debt free owns.. Actually I'm still in debt for a year or so but atleast now I can get my own place.. been shacked up at the gfs and nearly been stabbed a few times - not correlated really :(

I will have a cefiro one day again however, assuming I don't change my mind between now and the time I'll be able to afford one again ;)

As for the r31, s13 coilovers, VLT setup+FMIC. Hopefully drift pig. I was considering a 25/30 stock setup but with rb25 heads + ancillaries likely to cost over $1k it's hard to justify that on what is essentially a rolling fridge.

The thing is an ugly piece of shit with smelly interior (which will be removed) and piece of shit lethargic SOHC anchor as an engine.... Still - it is RWD, a Nissaaan and can be drifted... and funnily has a RB sound and feel to it (altho a lot more asthmatic than the DETs). Spose that's not -too- bad. Morgs also threw in his trolley jack to sweeten the deal :D:D

lol I did the same thing! Except im using my last pay to pay off my loan and buying an LSD with my holiday pay out :(:D

well, sad to say but can't do it any more because the paint booth was just pulled down for a bigger one... so it'll be out of action for a month, in whcihc time i'll be in syd.

well, i'm in syd now, so gimme a can of aerosol and i'll help ya paint it ;)

Hmm I bought 8 cans of black at $3/can so it might happen :D

    • Why not? Since mines been built, I've used low boost maybe 5 times.
    • Yeah, so widen your search to any Nissan speedo first, then go wider if needed. I will say though, that there is a better than even chance that what I said first will likely come into play. They quite possibly won't come apart without damage. I tried to disassemble a stepper gauge that I wanted to repair. There was no way that needle was coming off the spindle, and I could not see how the spindle would come out of the mechanism behind. Assembled once, never to be disassembled, was my conclusion. Could be the same on the R34 cluster. Failing that - take the cluster to a workshop that specialises in automotive instrument work. There's usually at least one in every Australian city. They'll either be able to do it for you for small cost, or tell you it can't be done. It might be that "it can't be done" unless you follow some arcane procedure, including trickiness to glue it back together or something, that only experienced techs know.
    • Well, given that I, an engineer, almost never bring out the torque wrench to tighten up chassis bolts, despite fully knowing the theory, and instead rely on feel, which I happen to know is exactly how the majority of mechanics do things, should tell you the level of actual peril that exists from not achieving exactly 88 Nm of torque. How about if I just say then that 88Nm is at the lower end of the correct wheel nut torque range? Everyone knows how to tighten a wheel nut, right? And almost no-one ever brings out the torque wrench for that task
    • Don't be ridiculous. "2-3 ugga duggas or one Oof. You have to use Oof on tie rods because you can't get an ugga dugga on there." Is not helping the guy at all.
    • I have done a lot of research before posting here and on gtruk forum. couldn't find anything. I have my gauges all part except the needle itself. the needle has a extremely small hole in the center, but the shaft going to the needle is extremely small and appears to have nothing to index it either. doesn't seem strong enough to simple pry or pull without damaging something. Already tried the old spoon trick on a extra triple meter I have from a gtt, but no luck. the center cap comes off easily but the hole in the meter face plate aren't big enough to get over the needle itself. figured this would be my best place to find someone who might have actually removed theirs. wonder if there is some type of small pin press tool to push the pin in while pulling the needle base off.
