Yeah that's true...

I guess if your pulled over for a breath test, there's less chance of them wanting to go over your car than if your seen giving it a squirt at the lights. Common sense really.

I think my area the cops mainly target V8's. There are a few P plate skyline owners, but yeah. None have been done that I know anyways. If they ever do it's just defected for other things.

EDIT - As for the 32, I would consider a GTR... but they're just further over than the 33 GTST's :(

ok let me settle a few things

a) Rego sticker weights are full of shit!... they mean nothing and have no reference to anything, they have been made up on each car eg. myself and my best mate both have 1994 r33 gts-t's mine is white his is black, only difference... his rego sticker says 1450, mine says 1370 ....

b) cops who suspect you of being over power/weight arent going to be stupid enough to just look at your rego sticker, they will pop the bonnet, it is well known r33 gts-t's are voer the power/weight and police will check the plates on your engine/firewall for the magical "rb25det"

in exact words from when i got done "mate your driving an rb25det in an r33 gts-t, if you want to drive a turbo'd skyline your gonna have to get an rb20 in an r32"

if they dont know, they wont fine you, and will most likely let you off with a defect, or just a lisence check/breath test

my rego sticker says my s2 r33 weighs 1600kg right on the mark for a p plater to drive. only found this out as my brother got done in his s1 r33 for power to weight 1450kg. it doesnt apply to me as i'm 25 but have a look around you might get lucky.

finally getting my car back this week after 6 months off the road YAY! :(

lol and according to vic roads, my car weighs 1200kgs

what part of, the cops dont go by the weight the rego sticker says. dont you understand.

im mates with someone who works for vic roads, he told me cops dont evcen work in co-ordination with vic roads for most stuff like power to weight fines etc. they go by there own judgement. not what vic roads says.

so judging it by your rego sticker, will not help you. you will still get done for power to weight if you drive an R33 gts-t on p plates. end of story.

well i think its obvious the sticker is wrong...and given the fact that its well known ALL R33 GTS-T's are over the limit

my cousins VX clubsport has about 1250kg on the rego sticker....and i think we know thats a very ambitious figure....

my NA Supra had 1100KG

my TT Supra has 1510KG

It's a good point... If the sticker said it's a GTS, then they surely couldn't fine me for driving a GTST? (Even if it is, how would they be 100% sure).

do u have a plaque mounted in your engine bay saying what engine u have?

some cops carry around p plater ban lists which includes the car that is banned + the engine in it

obviously if they see RB25DET then ur screwed

i know this cause i got done for the power to weight ratio, cop saw i was drving a Supra RZ with 2JZ-GTE written on the plaque mounted in the engine bay and came a $110 fine for me

in exact words from when i got done "mate your driving an rb25det in an r33 gts-t, if you want to drive a turbo'd skyline your gonna have to get an rb20 in an r32"

im assuming u were on ur Ps?....if so wat the hell is a cop doing telln UUU how to get around the laws to drive a turbo.....P platers cant drive anything with a turbo/V8 i thought?

newai.....

just dont drive like an idiot.......and dont draw attention....i rkn thats the best advice anyone can give u.....if ur plannin to drive a skyline on ur Ps......although its hard enough as it is....

if u really do love the car......why should anyone stop u........just remember its a privlidge and not a right.....so if u sscrew around....prepare to lose ur car.

good luck!

An RB20 in an R32 is under the power to weight ratio, therefore it is LEGAL for P platers to drive.

i thought anything with a turbo is illegal full stop...even if it couldnt beat a turtle?

Doesnt matter whats on the rego sticker.

Its the FACTORY weight that it works from, not your claim from a donkey rego sticker

They can surely fine you for it. Your driving a GTS-t, you can be fined for it.

Its not up for debate, and there is no "cheat" to get around it.

What your rego stick has means d|ck all, especially when the build plate in the engine bay has the engine specification.

Thread closed. There is more than enough info here on the forums, in the sticky threads.

And failing that you can always ring VicRoads or get onto thier website which also lists all the information

Thanks

    • Reading through the engine service manual their advice is do a cylinder balance test. Unplug one injector at a time and see if the idle drops a consistent RPM. You can also do this using a Consult cable which is easier. They also call for unplugging the power transistor, then with the engine off and the fuel rail unhooked from the manifold verifying that you have good fuel flow (even injection, no dripping/leaks, etc) when you twist the CAS by hand. Also verify the spark by pulling the spark plugs and allowing the plugs to ground and turning the CAS by hand. I would also start doing the sensor checks and idle valve checks in service manual. Make sure the MAF tests reasonably, the intake air regulator is sane, etc. You may have to get new spark plugs.
    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
