Guess it wasnt such a simple question as I cant find the info anywhere. Got someone to crawl under there car and they couldnt see a part number either.

Nissan gearboxes don't have any PN's anywhere on them. When I get the chance to boot up FAST I'll get some PN's for you.

That would explain why I have had enormous trouble trying to find out the number and why the person who crawled under there car for me couldnt see anything.

But from memory, I beleive the rb20 boxes actually have a number on them so I thought the rb25s would as well.

The only reason I wanted this part number is because I am looking for a RB25 box as my 20 box died and if I go to look at one or whatever I want to be able to know it is the correct part.

Only info I have is that the rb25 box is a lot larger than the rb20 one. But the 33/34s also had NA manuals so what boxes where behind them? Obviously weaker than the turbo variant but are they visualy the same as the turbo box from outside or look like the RB20 boxes? Then theres the MX7 from VLT that also can bolt up so I dont want to be confused.

In a nutshell I want a way of being 100% certain as to identifying the 25 box? And also a way of telling R33 from R34.

Not so sure but from memory i did rang up nissan n they told me that the 33 and 34 have the same part number for the box but some internals were different part numbers so go ring them up n double check... good luck mate...

The R33 NA box is physically the same size and strength as the RB20 turbo type (which is essentially the same as the RB30E type). Haven't seen an R34 NA type but would be surprised if it wasn't more-or-less the same as the R33 NA.

The MX7 looks very similar to the R33 turbo 'box, but has a mechanical speedo drive which is pretty easy to spot.

Someone posted side-by-side pictures of the R33 turbo 'box with the RB20 type in another thread, so perhaps do a search.

It's true the RB20 and RB30E gearboxes have some markings on them but they aren't PN's. Even if I gave you the PN's I doubt it's going to help much.

Jayson, you should be able to move RB20DET/R33 NA boxes yourself as they are not that heavy.

The RB25 box however you will have great trouble moving alone as the weight of the box is huge compared to its smaller brothers.

I always need a hand moving my 25 box around because im no beefcake :)

I think R31_POWER or similar posted comparison picks... it was a while ago now and i cant remember what thread :)

The R34 box is pretty much the same inside as the R33 box but is much lighter. I can pick it up easily. It has a more raw aluminium look to the casing.

The manual says that the R34 turbo box is FS5R30A. The R34 non turbo box is FS5W71C.

    • Ya thankfully I've been able to drive it, it's pretty fun however I noticed yesterday while driving to work that my left side of the car is very wobbly, like any bump I go over it jolts the whole vehicle and pulls the steering wheel, I kicked the wheel a few times once I got home and it's a very distinct metal on metal clunk, so I guess I need to take a look at my suspension, maybe it's a control arm bushing or tie rod
    • With Tyroola, they're probably 10 years old. It's already pretty clear that they've given the job of copywriting their adverts to an artificial stupidity (which could be a Year 9 dropout, or someone recently arrived to Oz with almost no English).

    • Absolutely! I've been in love with them since I was a kid. I remember doing a school essay on Humvee's back in grade 5 haha. I always wanted one, but didn't have the space nor the funds. With us now looking for another larger home with a larger garage, I'll have room to park it. They have also gone down considerably in price. The US army has been phasing out Humvee's, so they're flooding the market which also brings down H1 prices.  It shouldn't be a problem to drive around here, I live in the suburbs. I would absolutely not buy one if I lived in a city though. They are known to be terribly unreliable. People often swap out the original 6.2/6.5L for a more reliable Duramax.  H1 and Humvee's are identical, minus the fact that the H1 has a dash and seats. It sadly also makes the H1 more expensive. I've driven both and the Humvee interior, or lack thereof makes it extremely loud and unpleasant to drive. Don't get me wrong, the H1's interior is horrendous, but at least it's present. Most do a custom interior in a Humvee which I'm also more than happy to purchase.
    • Then I realised it was just a typo. I was hoping for a set of Pirellys for my 5 series.
