Im still the winner so far!!

With a plain bearing internal gated dinosaur from 1987 :(

But when carls is finished it should be a serious piece of gear. Glad to see someone throw some serious coin at an RB20 and share all the details as well. For that I congratulate you and wish you all the best..

back in your box. you lucky devil got most of the good gear from the factory (manifold, turbo, fmic etc)

I cant help but wonder how cool RB20s would have been if Nissan kept with the GTS-R theme with the R32 and Touring Car racing. We would all be driving cars with the grunt that yours and Carlh are makinh

final assembly done...motor is due to go into car tommorow with any luck it will be done.

Im with mattsr and cubes!!!!!!!! Give it some real boost. After all, that GT30R is only having fun at 22 psi and you have engine capable handling more now. Bring it on :)

I have been watching this thread. Beautiful work. Cant wait to see the results.

BTW where did you get the turbo from? I thought the "real" GT30R still werent available in Aus....

You know that you now have wet our appetites with pics :) , so we're gona want some audio clips when its done :(

Ciao

thanks for the kind words...going to school and trying to rebuild a car is hard, so its taken a while to work and save money to fix the old girl.

Awsome work Carl, looks top notch and should make some awsome numbers. what was the head stud kit worth? what head gasket did you use?

Damn HKS low mounts and tiny engine mount clearance, my 2871r with a .6 cover only just fits aswell, make sure you get some tough intake piping to stop it rubbing through when your engine bucks.

I hate those clips you can’t save them (very GOOD sounding rb20):(

if its youtube or google vid then you can. Google something along the lines of "saving youtube videos" and there is a script to install on mozilla :P (shit quality, but hey)

    • Looking at the photos, you could easily just drop this pipe and dump into atmosphere  Just 1 or 2 quick hits for data acquisition - if have a heat shield material and/or sheet metal, maybe just use wire/metal cable ties and attach it in a way to deflect heat from melting nearby wires.

Let’s keep building something special. 💪🚗💨 Matt Zoumpoulis, President SAU NSW
    • Yes, well, keep in mind that the air is intake air, which equal boost + possible oil. If there is a fine deposition of oil/scunge that then gets hot and carbonises, it could look just like that. Probably shouldn't be leaking. Might just be normal for that product. Hard to know if it is relevant.
    • Wrapped up putting the motor back in today. I have a stainless flex turbo drain pipe like you see on cummins and that funny enough PRP started selling. I generally prefer these but sadly they come with a finite amount of times they can be bent before they snap. Took well over a week for a replacement to arrive.  I was able to prime the pump but I will more then likely wait until next friday to take it on its madden voyage. I also installed the nozzles for my direct port WMI setup but plugged the nozzle holders for now. I'll tube it with Swagelok SS tubing and fittings next chance I get. No rush, i'll be breaking it for a week or two anyways.
    • I could definitely do some logs without the VCT enabled for sure. I believe we tried it on the dyno and it still spiked but wouldn't hurt to try again and have the logs    I might be able to use some metal cable ties and hold the gate open entirely, I'd need to see about that one.   What do we think about these marks on the cap of the actuator? This is where the two parts push together where the diaphragm spring is. To me they look like air has been sleeping past?? Specifically talking about those black stains above the lower rim/lip. They can be rubbed away as if it's just an exhaust stain.
