Driven a brand new XR6 for about 1 month up in qld for work. Main problem i found with it was the excessive amount of road noise when crusing at 100km/h.

Yeah its god damn farken TERRIBLE!!!! Altho most of it is down to the farken stupid Dunlop tyres the idiots at ford continually use as OEM tyres. I've had the OEM SP9000's on my 18's which are noisy as all fark. The SP3000's they fit to the 17's on my previous NA XR6 were exactly the damn same. Sit on a freeway at 100km and you need to crank the stereo to drown out the road noise. Currently have Bridgestone S03's on the front and they are tops, i thought the car was a bum dragger with the SP9000's but the S03s have knocked out a lot of the understeer from before and they seem lots quieter.

As for reading whats on the forum forums, of course they are gonna love them. Be like coming on SAU and asking if skylines are any good hehe.

I've had my current BA2 XR6T since Dec 04, and other than the average panel fit, terrible road noise and drinking ~20L of oil in the first 15,000kms, its generally been ok. Its ok to cruise in, did many trips to NSW in my previous NA XR6, but they're not much chop if you enjoy some proper driving. (Being a dickhead on the skidpan exempted hehe)

If you can live with driving something that has the dynamics of a brick on wheels, go for an F6 :P

Keep in mind if you do the edit thing etc, its gonna drink like all fark.

Miniwog, aint u also on the xr6 turbo forums?

On the open country roads of far nth qld i found the NA XR6 had no balls once it top gear at around 180 clicks. It would only do around 220 and then die in the ass.

i made a couple posts over there, but i cbf reading that shit. They're all convinced the XR6 is the best thing since sliced bread, sure you can make them go farken fast in a straight line but make a sports car it doesn't!

Yeah the NA was gutless, but the turbo isn't much better in standard form either. ~1700-1800kg will do that!

thats the trouble with car specific forums, they think there particular cars are the best!

Im very much against the XR6 turbo, the only possible thing it had going for it is straight line, but with premium fuel nudging 2 dollars a liter, that 4 liter is gonna be one thirsty boat.

Ordered the Ignition coloured with matching interior VE SS with 20's and other interior accessories. Getting delivered mid to late next week.

Got a pre tax car allowance / month so I will actually own the car after the payment period.

Now need to sell my other 2 cars

Nice. Now where's pics of the car & colour & rims (i realise u don't have it yet, but post links to them).

It will look like this. Mine arrive this thursday/friday, waiting for dealer to confirm tomorrow.

Its already booked into HSV next week to get the lowering kit installed coz I recon its 2 high stock

Not bad. With a 6L engine, I know where to find you to check it out... every servo you pass. hehe

I spose with Displacement On Demand, the fuel should be OK with conservative driving.

It's a huge leap forward in sytling considering the general shape has not dramaitally altered since 1989 (VN).

HSV might be a lot pricier than other alternatives. I'll chop ya springs for $50. ;0)

Dont matter what petrol costs as it payed by the company!!!

Cant chop springs coz the ESP will f*k up.

HSV kit is $580 supplied and fitted including wheel alignment and is ADR approved and wont effect my new car warranty.

Wont have to worry about getting hasseled by cops ever again

Looked at alot of options, and this was the best. Will be doing alot of km's so needed something confortable and with 4 doors, with some balls and looks half decent.

Evo 9, BF F6 Typhoon, STI to expensive. Interior of evo 9 and STI were shite.

06 Club spec 9 wrx, looked good on the outside, but was shite on the inside and underpowered. XR6 Turbo, boring as hell and looks outdated, and already 2 many around.

Company was gonna just give me a new 4 cyclinder camry, and I said hmmm NO give me the allowance and I will get my own car.

Here are some pics of my new ignition VE SS which is now 1 week old.

Additions were ignition coloured seats, mats, leather flat bottom steering wheel and manual gear stick, Sports pedals, flip out keys, 20 Inch Holden rims, Walkinshaw lowering kit and tinted windows.

Was waiting for a nice sunny day to take the pics but it has been raining for the last few days and the car is slightly dirty in the pics and is a cloudy day.

Will take better pics ona nice sunny day.

not havin a go at you mate, as its your car and you're the only 1 that has to like it...but looking at your photos, thats 1 of the ugliest holdens, that they've ever made imo.

The only decent bits (ie not the rear) are so like the BA/BF its not funny. I'm talking about the headlights as the most obvious, and the roof line/side windows....never noticed it so much as in your photos :nuke:

congratulations on the car though...sounds like some expensive extras :D

I've seen a VN...its not a good looking car by any means, but the VE goes beyond that to weird looking. Its like a beefed up vectra imo.

Like i said i'm not taking a stab at you or your car personally, so please don't take it that way.

Yes, I am a ford person, but when the VE came out, I could honestly say that even the VT, VX and VZ looked a shit load better.

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
