SIKR33

On the internet, as in real life, there are certain rules that people should follow - in this case, they are referred to as 'netiquette'. Here are a couple of links I found by typing 'netiquette' into Google:

http://www.dtcc.edu/cs/rfc1855.html

http://www.albion.com/netiquette/

You will note that typing with caps lock on, apart from being annoying to read, is considered as shouting on the internet, and can also be considered rude in some circumstances.

Noone is suggesting that you're an idiot or anything because you use caps lock - in fact, I think most of us appreciate you taking the time to post up little tidbits of info like that in your top post. It's simply more pleasant to read something that's written in lower case or, preferably, mixed case (proper capitalisation). Please don't bite someone's head off because they have the nerve to offer constructive criticism.

Please, PLEASE, turn your caps lock off. Think of it like the indicator on your car. It isn't absolutely necessary to use it to go places, but it sure as hell makes the trip far more pleasant for those you encounter along the way.

Yes, I had a spare five seconds to look up that info. It shows a huge amount of immaturity on your part for attacking people who have a simple request, like pressing ONE KEY on your keyboard. All of 23 posts to your name and already stirring shìt.

570CK, I've read what he has to say and its useless info. As a FYI, I went out to my garage and fondled the hose's going to the solenoid that I'd previously removed. No restrictor. Its a well known GTR tip, not one for the 25t.

Can a mod please, please ban SIKR33. Every post I've read from him has been useless. Every sugestion to him to not use caps has been ignored.

anyone got more info on the location of this restrictor? or some pics?

does it restrict air before it enters the turbo or boosted air after it leaves the turbo? coz if it is after then it will probably up the boost won't it? And for soemone running on 10psi (me!) that could mean turbo danger in the future if you rise again.

I don't think you're dazzling anyone with your intelligence. Ignoring and subsequently attacking people with an incredibly simple request is not a good way to make friends in here.

Anyway, getting back on topic, a restrictor in the wastegate line, particularly after any boost controller, can only slow the passage of pressurised air, thereby causing boost to come on harder and possibly with a small spike. Surely removing it will slow boost response and remove any short spike in the boost curve? So, without some form of EBC or at least a gated bleed valve, the car will feel more sluggish. With an aftermarket controller, you don't want a restriction to affect the function of the controller so in this case, go for it and remove the restrictor.

Yep is does cause the boost to spike

Hey guys, the point that needs to be acknowledged in this discussion is that it only applies to the GTR. For people who think that it does not increase power, your wrong.

Last week I was told by my tuner/mechanic who specialises in GTR's said that he was surprised that I still had the restrictor in, apperantly it's the first thing you do when buying a GTR (remove restrictor), and it DOES NOT harm your engine or turbo.

Anyway I had my car tuned on the dyno and it went from 185 rwkws (stock boost) to 215 rwkws with taking out restrictor and installing adjustable cam gears/dialing in cams. Boost increased to 13.5 psi, but only held 12.7 psi through high revs. However Powewr FC with boost solenoid and hand controller are going in in the next few weeks, to increase boost to 1.1 bar (apprx 16psi) and lean out the fuel (was running 10.8 a/f ratio). Power should increase to 240-250 rwkws.

Therefore by taking out restrictor it increased boost from approx. 9 psi to 13 psi. Definetly a power increase there.

Just thought I'd shine some light into the discussion.

P.S Other mods incl full exhaust (3'' high flow cat), Apexi pod filter kit, oil catch can.

guys if you dont believe me ask the guys at tilbrooks auto and dyno theyre the guys who told me to remove the factory retstrictor and seriously i have had no problems here the car goes like a shower of shit AND YES i am a licenced aircraft maintenance engineer i did 6 1/2 years in the RAAF in ardu

AIRCRAFT research and DEVELOPMENT uNIT BASED AT raaf EDINBURGH sorry guys i know a hellava lot more about jet turbines did my basic training on turbo charged aircraft engines

so believe what you want gredenko and inasnt

dont like what i write well F%^k u

Unless Nissan started putting RB26's in the series II (and did a damn good job of disguising them), you ain't got no restrictor. I don't know what the hell you've been pulling out of your engine bay to make it "go like a shower of shit", but it sure as hell wasn't a restrictor.

Wait! Maybe you turned your back on the car one day and someone dumped a RB26 in there for you. That would explain it!

Dude, don't believe me. Believe the vacum hoses that came off my car.

Name dropping hey. Well then, that backs up everything you've said. Two can play at that. I just got off the phone with HKS Japan, want to know what they said? They said you should stop waving your dick about in forums. The 25t has no boost restrictor, you probably misunderstood what ever it was tilbrooks was trying to tell you. Adding a restrictor (in the right place) will increase boost however.

    • The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf
    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
    • Does the scanner do all the CUs in the car, or only the ECU?
    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
