Just thought I'd pop up a post to counter the inevitable sniping that is happening after our dyno results at Autosalon. The Dyno was run in Shootout Mode which means that all variables and adjustments are locked. 2 other cars (B REAL and Leslie's MX5) ran within 1 or 2% of what they made on SSTs dyno during the week. Bear in mind that figures touted by other tuners for their cars from previous "Salons" were not run in shootout mode and are subject to interpretation.

Jash,

I read all the post's in here and I don't think anyone has has a bad thing to say about the result. In fact all of us there were very impressed, even old Jaffey:D

We only have a go at the fact that you can only run 12sec with a 649rwhp car:p

I agree, the dyno results were very close to Steve's dyno and congrats on winning.

See'ya:burnout:

Oh it may not be anyone in here, I just wanted to assure everyone in here that the results were legit, as per usual in Perth there's always someone reckoning we fudged the result.

Hey it was a poorly tuned 500rwhp car when it ran a 12 at 123. something mph :shake: . Will all be fixed with a Holly or some PPG gears and some Nittos.

Jash

Jash,

We know the car should be capable of much more at the plex, and we want to see a GTR take it to some of the V8 brigade.

WE will only bag you if you deserve it:D How much boost were you running, and is there anymore left in the engine at the moment?

See'ya:burnout:

Quite a bit left in it based on how its going now. We just started using VP103 in it and we reckon that there is at least 500rwkw in it. We we're running 1.7 bar which is getting towards the meat of the efficiency for the 3037S. We'll see. Now I've just got to find a Holly sequential for the right money...

Jash

The Dyno was even closer than that, BREAL and MX52NV made within 0.3%.

The runs were in shootout mode and for real.

So that is the highest figure in WA for a GTR and would be 734rwhp at Myaree and upto 800+ on the dynopack and dynojet

dynos. Good on ya Jash for outrite and Paul for the 4cyl crown.

Lets make Shootout mode STD for Shootouts to stop the fudged

figures that DO happen.

Dude,

Ta Dude, nice to meet you all finally - met PVA too.

I'm a sucker for anything with Sparco on it. I also want one of those Superfun Happy baseball bats - I reckon it'd be hilarious to kneecap an intruder with one.

Jash

Amen Hippie,

Shootout Mode is made for a reason and comes with every Dyno Dynamics dyno, if an operator says they havent got it then they are telling porkies. Also worth getting any power runs done in Shootout mode so you can compare with some degree of accuracy.

Jash

Nice work jashy, be nice to see that thing at full boost and power finally, it sat in the shop waiting long enough for it to happen..

bring on the 1k mark and maybe perths first 9 second 4wd pass, might give the eastern states boys something to think about..

    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
    • I'd say it's a fair bet that the feed and return fluid lines will be in different enough spots that you would need to come up with a way to cut the originals short and adapt with new hard line adaption or braided teflon hoses or somesuch. But really, you have the car, you have the photos of the DMAX rack - you should be able to go out there and see for yourself whether they're in the same or different spots.
    • I've been doing some looking around and honestly was just considering throwing a new rack at it. I saw that the dmax silvia rack bolts up into the 33 with the silvia bushings but not sure if the high pressure lines will sit in the correct spot. I believe other version of the 33 rack are the same/similar to the racks that can be opened up without as much fuss so I assume the dmax rack would fit but any ideas?
    • I've never played with one, but I would expect that you are correct. That slot looks like it is intended to be used to unscrew the end, and the flats on the body would be better than grabbing it around the round bit with a pipe wrench. So, yeah, probably unscrews. You'll probably have to make a tool to drive in that slot.
