Hi,

The story goes,

In 3 months, i have wasted 2 set of front tyres,

due to flat spot on the tyres caused by hard braking.

wasted 2 set of tyres, first set was Federal, so I replaced them with Bridgestone Potenza,

now just last week, another hard brake, due to some idiot P plater making illegal Right turn. I get another flat spot on my tyres.

my question is, why isit so easy to have a flat spot on the tyres? is there any way to avoid them? beside stop hard brake? or isit something wrong with my suspension?

maybe u should re-visit the way you drive and not follow/tail gate too closely??

I drive all day, everyday for work and yeah there are a lot of dickhead drivers around but have yet to really do a hard brake yet in my years of driving...

Have you checked your front end and suspension.

I have seen some tyres wear out in 1 week due to faulty suspension.

You are on a time bomb, get it fixed before you snow plough into the person in front of you.

That is my guess......other than bad tyre pressures.

yeah maybe know 5 or 10km/h off ya speed. And be more aware of whats around you.

I drive safe and no tailgating as far as I know, just where i lived alot of asian lady drivers and P plater,

I scared of asian lady drivers more! lol,

they expected u to give way to them in every ways. :angry:

front is 360, and back is 290.

could that be the causes?

couldnt think of any other things that make it so easily geting flat spot.

will change to spring at the front to match the back.

for burn out or watever FREE, Pm me, it has flat spot, bumpy ride.

Raise your vision. And well, if it keeps on happening adjust your gap to 3 seconds, not the two it is now (assuming your a safe driver like you say you are).

Maybe also get your suspension as mentioned above and your brakes looked at as well. Wheel alinement etc.

You are bouncing all over the place , you might not be able to tell though.

Sounds like your shocks have had it.Maybe not matched to the springs.Get it checked .

ok so try a new braking technique. just slamming the brakes on will lock up your wheels. if you can train yourself to ease the brakes on a bit slow, brush the brakes a lil bit so the nose of your car dips down, THEN push the brake in. That way you are giving the car time to shift weight to the front before you apply full pressure.

Im talking like a split second brush before you bury the pedal. Shifting the weight to the front will allow you to put more pressure on the brakes, as your tyres will be biting down into the tarmac more. If you just slam the brakes on while cruising or jump straight from the accellerator to the brake, there isnt enough weight on the front to stop the tyres from breaking traction, cos its all either centered, or at the rear. Move the vehicles weight onto the front, then bury that pedal.

Streetracing 101, dude. comes in handy sometimes.

This chap is doin his money in tyres and all you hoons think he drives like a monkey. :P

it just seems like bad luck to me. i think everyone missing the point he is trying to put across.

depending on how bad the flat spots are just put them on the back and do a big burn out on them and hey presto thay are round again!

i know its a shit idea but hey better than paying for more and more fun to.

mate, if you lock the brakes you are braking too hard. And if you don't quite lock the brakes you are breaking too soft :O

in all, i rather have flat spot on the tyre, cos they are cheaper than insurance claim!

rotate the tyres wont do, it is like having a rock stuck in there somewhere,

still gona get that bumpy ride no matter where u put it! :rant:

After these 2 set of tyres, emptied my pocket!

Just gota learn to avoid sudden braking and look about and around more, cant do much really.

I just invested on some camber kit, and castor kit,

what do they improve in performance exactly?

or they just help to even wear of the tyres?

Dude lets look at this again.

Why do you lock you brakes up? Too much brake pressure.

What happens when the brakes are locked? You slide

When you slide are you stopping quicker? No

If you cant stop quickly enough (as your brakes are locked, and you have no steering) you smack in to the back of something. So whats the outcome of that? You have an insureance claim.

So what you need to do, is brake differently. Dont lock up, its not the fastest way to stop, less is more! So get a wheel alinement, ask them whats wrong, tell them what its doing etc, if something is wrong fix it. Once you have done both of them if you are still locking up... Go do a defencive driving course, in your car.

And if by some crule act of god, you still havent worked it out after ALL of that go hand your licence back in. It will be the right thing to do.

I'm guessing you don't have abs. Ever thought of getting a decent r33 with abs?

If you press the brakes and locok them coz you need to stop quick, you don't have to keep it locked and do a mega slide with them locked. As soon as it locks, just release it a tiny bit.

Also, if it's got a tiny flat spot, can't you just do a burnout to even it?

    • The incentives are mostly the same, yes. Ethanol is cheap compared to the cost of doing 98-100 RON with crude oil alone. 87 to 93-94 AKI all with E10. In 2020 Canada mandated E10 as a part of their "renewable fuel standard" and is supposedly going to go to E15 in 2030. In California where there are only 8 refineries with two threatening to shut down next year it's been over 20 years now of E10 and 91 AKI maximum because there's just not enough refinery capacity or crude oil supply relative to the demand for premium unleaded fuel. And CARB's low carbon fuel standard means functionally none of the diesel available at the pump is made from crude oil anymore. It's almost all entirely 20% biodiesel blended with 80% renewable diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) now. The number of gasoline vehicles that support E15 or higher ethanol concentrations is surprisingly low, I can't imagine it being wise to play tricks like this without flex fuel sensors in most of the fleet.

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
