From some of the stuff I read, The gtr700 ran petrol and HKS gtr ran HKS race fuel which is close to petrol. All 3 run air to air intercoolers with gtr 700 and heat treatment both running the super thick trust drag spec items (like kier wilson). Dont know if the GTR-700 will race this month against reece but it is aparently got a whole new engine ready to go. Cant wait to see reece run though. luck for me the plane tickets are cheap cause every one is buying up to go to melbourne. I think the new record should be a given. If all goes well i reckon we might even see a low 7.

Huh thats finished?

The car is nearly ready - we are just having a tuning issue.

Methanol IS NOT easy. Apparantly Reece took a year to get the tune

right using methanol as we are just finding out now.

Fark........ 7.57.... that is just amazing, wish I was there to see it.

I remember being at Drag Combat in May 2002 when the HKS

GTR was there. 7 second GTRs are just awesome.

I dont actually have a set of wheels for my GTR at the moment. The ones in the photos are off Keir's GTR so we can roll it around. I have Carbon brakes on it so we can fit 15" rims if we decide to run slicks at some stage. We are just using std 17" R33 GTR rims on the car for the dyno. I had some nice gold TE37s a while ago, but I sold them as the car was not being used for so long.

I tried to get some 15" Advans a while ago, but was told they stopped making them.

Keir uses a 15" US Weld racing rim to run slicks on, they may not fit the R33 gtst though

because of the offset. Shouldn't be too hard to borrow some centerlines or weldies & play around

with them to see it they fit. If only they made 16 or 17" slicks. It would make life much easier

for sport compact racing.

Holy Shit John that looks amazing!

Can't wait to see it up and running however I guess AIR being up in no mans land at the moment doesn't help!

Either way i hope its here that you run it first if AIR get saughted

If AIR doesn't open soon, I may just take it interstate once to test it,

& then sell the car complete. It is a shame, but no point having a GTR

like this & not being able to use it regularly.

    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
