hey ppls.. i jus got my full license and thought why not try a new quote with justcars.. currently im paying $4k a year for the gtr

to my suprise it showed $2670 when i finished the quote! so i gave justcars a ring and they came to the conclusion that it gave me the wrong no claim bonus for the online quote? and if anything it can only be lowered to $3200 and thats only if i cancel my existing policy and go onto the new one..

so basically i thought of another way.. they gave me the quote on net, and theres an option to pay for it on net without talking to anyone... so can i jus cancel my insurance wid just cars, get my money back (i jus paid 2k this month for 6months) and then just pay the $2670 for 1 year over the net?.. or will it jus turn back around on me?..

im also thinking of raising my insured value while im there haha

thanks

Yea I was paying 3k last year with famous, they requoted me 2.6k for this year. I did an online quote with Justcar they quoted me 1.5k, and an extra $40 for the max noclaim bonus offer thingy.

I was like ermm sweet.. Paid on the net and BAM got my insurance. Didnt talk to anyone.

Note: If you cancel with justcar I think there is a cancelation fee (not sure how much)

I went through shannons and they were not only a lot cheaper, but also the excess was like a difference of $1000 odd dollars on the happy side....

Shannons definately the way to go......

insurance was only like $870

Ya but how old are you.. ive paid 2800 for my insurance with famous.. with 1000 excess which isnt too bad but im hoping it will go down alot next year.. and im under 25

fair enough......

older than that

good driving record helps though.....

I still reckon that you should try shannons next year (they will insure you if you are under 25) as even there excess is only $500 (and that includes wheels and exhuast) and they have lifetime guarentee on all the work that gets done....

Yea.. well i have a clean reccord that they know of  lol.. so it should go down.. one of the guys on here works for shannons.. so i might speak to him when the time comes round..

But always shop around before i purchase something that big..

45k!?!?!?!?!

gee's thats heaps high for value!!!

also - in regards to just cars n such with the actually topic....

wouldnt that come under duty of disclosure?

I wouldnt want them to find out you are ripping the system - come claim time....?

fully insuring a car worth under 30k is totally not worth it when you can just get 3rd party for like 5th of the cost... doesnt make sense to me to pay thousands plus an excess for the "what if" chance when after like 3 years you have paid the price of the car...

I'm with Stan, some of those prices seem very expensive.

I know I'm an old Bastard (35), but I'm paying $1406/yr for 30K car with Torque. I lost my license 2 1/2 yrs ago (clean for the past 5 years otherwise), told them and it incresed the excess from the normal $600 to $1200. Don't know what the deal with under 25 is, might be worth checking?

Also spoke to GIO about a quote the other week, they now have a department that deals with import and modified vechles. When I mentioned the loss of the licenses, the girl replied no problem we insure the uninsurable, quote came to $1440, don't know might also be worth checking.

    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
    • EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
