Just thought i would post and say i had the front split dump pipe and the big 5" body cat installed yesterday. I only had a cat back exhaust before, so now mine is complete turbo back.

Let me just say i find the difference these 2 components have made is very noticable. Highly recommended.

theexile,

i have organised a small GB for those that missed out. which part(s) would you like and for which car? i would need payment by wed-thu this week to finalise payments and send parts out. the next 'official GB' wont be until after new years.

cheers

michael,

interested in a cat, and have a couple of questions.

1/ do the cat prices apply only if you buy a dump/front pipe? or are we able to buy it individually?

2/ are you able to get 2.5" cats?

3/ by "bolt on" does that mean they come with flanges? or a welding "bolt on"?

4/ any performance difference between the small body and large body apart from physical? i.e any figures on flow rate?

5/ delivery to brisbane, qld for one of these cats.

cheers

eug

Eug,

you dont have to buy the pipe to get the cats at the GB prices. i can get 2.5" cats, but they wont be bolt on for skyline.

by bolt on, it means the flanges are welded on already, so you can just install it yourself. there is a performance difference of about 30-40cfm. i dont have an exact figure on the small and large body ceramic cats, but the large body flows about 460-480cfm from memory.

the delivery is included in the price, but if you want 2.5", it would be cheaper as it will also not be bolt on. pm me if you want a cat other than the ones offered in 3" or for any other Q's.

cheers

mspek,

im not sure what you mean about being worried?

If you are talking about the magic cat flow rates shown in that article, as you can see they were measured with the magic cat not having any cone reducers welded on it to make the piping 3". the magic cat is basically a 4" pipe with a metal substrate inside it and this is how it was flow tested. of course it will measure more flow than a 3" piped cat of any type.

the catco 5" body cat with 4" piping welded to it (so this way it has the same in and out diammeters as the magic cat which was flow tested in that article) flows at 1015CFM! ...not at 750cfm like the magic cat.

also i noticed it said in there 'catco supercat', this is a misprint, because catco has no 'supercat', the name supercat is a different brand altogether and those cats which were bench tested were all ceramic inside cats. if there was a catco cat tested, it would have been the large body ceramic inside cat, which flows in the high 400's cfm (which is maybe what that figure is "496cfm". i hope that clears things up for you, since it can get a bit misleading when they dont tell you much about what exactly they tested it against...

cheers

I too would like to jump in on this little group buy if possible, Michael is it possible if I can purchase just the front pipe for a r33gtst, wont be able to pay till the coming tuesday (5th) though would this be ok

Are the dump pipes that are built into these front pipes 3"?

In the pictures of this dump/front combo the dump looks to be of small size then the rest of the pipe.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

cheers

Hey Batmbl,

Put me down for SS dump pipe for $380 for R33 Gts-t when ever there is a group buy on and i'll send you the cash.

rgds,

Chris

hayden49,

yes they are built into the pipe, this is why we call it a 'dump & front pipe in one'. the dump area is smaller in size because you cannot fit 3" piping directly onto the turbo flange. you will notice that even HKS's split dump isnt 3" as there just isnt enough room when its a split/twin dump..

MsG_ChRiS,

i will pm you shortly

cheers

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
