Im running 10W 40 redline in a standard R33, did find it interesting that after doing about 5500 kms oil pressure is not as healthy and stable as it was (at higher engine temps) . Its goin to be an expensive thing to run though cause its clocked that in just under 3 months of running. Was goin to do the change over the weekend.

  • 3 weeks later...

When i had my old 33gts, i changed oil every 5k to 8k and always change oil filter and also use lighter weight oil.

Now i have my gtr, it make power therefore i ALWAYS change oil and genuine Nisan filter every 5K. There are two type of Genunie Nisan filter, the big one made in Thailand which to me is a no no, the small one that made in Japan i use.

Then every now and then i used engine oil flush product (GERMAN) to give that extra clean, i'm not anal about my car but i dont want to give it any reason to f*k it self as i can't afford to rebuild it.

fully synthetic oils these days last much longer than mineral or semi synth oils. I don't recommend it, but you can probably leave it longer than 10,000 and still be protecting your engine properly.

I change my oil every 4,000kms or 6 months in a car that sees mostly track work these days. I also use genuine nissan oil filters, they are like $12-13

So are you saying you do multiple track day's on one oil change?

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
