hey guys, jus wondering if anyone could give me some info on putting an rb26det into a r33 gts-t? is there alot of modifying to fit the engine? also i imagine this is an expensive thing to do?

very expensive... being that i wouldnt run the risk of using stocker turbos.

So its a 5 figure adventure.

Whats your power goal? and how much do you want to spend? For 250-300rwkw, keep the RB25, do some internal work for anything over 280rwkw (rough rule of thumb). 250 - 270 is a good figure to aim for with a 25 as you can achieve that power with little more lag than stock, and keep the internals stock. Any more than this and your up for some big dollars

If you want morepower and little lag go for a RB30DET exelent base for 300 - 400rwkw less stuffing around than a RB26 and less lag.

my 2 cents

cheers

You can only use one engine mount the left one needs to be modified to clear the turbos and associated parts. Standard RB25 box fits. Sump needs to be modified.

Drive in drive out works out to be in the 10-14g range. Ive priced it all before....

Its pretty straight forward, RB25 box will bolt directly onto the motor, you can use the rb25 loom to run the thing, IF, you convert to a single turbo setup, <much wiser move IMHO, properly selected single eg, gt30 with a .64/82 rear will be on boost earlier most likely than the stock twins> if you stick with twins you'll need to get the loom from the 26 wited in to suit, as you will need to retain the dual AFM's and o2 sensors etc..

i used stock r33 mounts to the motor with nismo mounts to the subframe, and box..

as for the sump theres a couple of optiosn you can do.. use an rb25/30/20 style sump, you'll need to bash the side where the oil pick up is, and prevent it from leaking, <slightly dodgy method> or modify the gt-r sump, by chopping off the diff housing, and cleaning it up, then welding up the holes left from where the diff passes through it, that'll fit in perfectly and clear everything..

you can also get some extended units from various places, ive had one developed for me locally by a mate of mine, will hold about 10 litres of oil, and pretty crucial if your going to be belting it on the track, if its just a streeter you will be fine with the modified stock sump..

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
