Well, its on again, the Bathurst Speed Weekend.

On the Saturday is a supersprint - standing start near the top of conrod right down thru the chase finishing at the main finish line.

Sunday is even better, a hillclimb up the track from conrod right up to macphillamy park.

$115 for each day, very cheap! And a good opportunity for a beer or 3 on sat night.

All you need is long clothing, AS approved helmet, fire extinguisher and battery triangle (and 2nd bonnet restraint if your car is pre 83)

With a bit of luck this will be hge32r's return to competition....how else is interested in entering or just coming along for a weekend away?

aww shit

my old car

boys, this truly is a top event

the supersprint starting on conrod is tops

and as for the hillclimb, you get to do a "tyre warming exercise" (no shit, thats what they officially call it) beforehand./ so smoko the tyres

get entered

duncan, pls keep me informed of this event. id like to come watch on sunday. cheers, mark

Sounds good. I guess we should start organising accomodation now.

Minimum 4 runs, max 100 entries on day one, minimum 3 runs, max 80 entries on day 2.

I certainly hope we get more than 3 runs in one day. That would suck arse to go all that way for 7 runs over 2 days.

Yeah i was reading that... it seems a little harsh :)

I guess though.. 100 vehicles is a fair number, but still, so little runs as a minimum is suprising. Hopefully they dont get so many entrants!

no such thing as "track days" at bathurst using the whole track. unless you are racing a race car, built to a class you have no hope of driving the full track under closed 'race' conditions. :(

(Well, for watching unless someone donates a car)

finish your own car you butt pirate! this is 2 months away. stop bludging and get crackin'. gives you something to aim for. :(

You know what ive been doing this afternoon?

Shopping

There's just too much to consider, its getting to be a giant headache

Still, ill be driving up in one of the cars either way, so yeah, pub on Saturday night sounds good

You know the worst part about this? I was having those CV joint problems when this was on last year, and only the week before i magaed to get it all finished/fixed, so i missed out :P Still, the observant ones wouldve noticed it parked up there on top of the hill :P

Ya gotta love a race car driver that doesn't read the sup regs!!!. Sunday's hillclimb starts on Mountain Straight not Conrod. Duncan were you on the turps when you posted up?.

Talking of turps,,,Saturday night sounds like a top idea to me,,,good thinking 99.

hge better be ready buddy or you could always use another car or 2 in the stable.

Come on everybody fill those entry forms out and lets have some fun.

Neil.

ps - with the supersprint - is there any point with the 180 speed limiter???

I guess it depends on your power, I didn't get it with my old gtst.

And last Time I did it there was no-where near 100 entries, and I got 6 runs each day....which is a lot for a hillclimb.

Also, don't forget its only $115 each day, its a great weekend away and not hard on the car.

supersprint is started halfway down conrod (in the dip) so if you do 180 before the kink you'll be a happy boy. easy done

supersprint i only got in about 5 last time, but damn it's fun

hillclimb i got plenty of runs

with any luck, it'll rain. makes for more fun

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
