Mine is the 2nd best behind broken, go the silver R32s.

Im going to continue to worry more about what im doing on the road, and getting that right first, then ill worry about the madmen around me, irrespective of what car they drive.

Last thing i will say is that there wasnt a single passenger, not one who went for a ride on my old 427 Impala who didnt absolutley love it.

They couldnt get the smiles off their face, and always wanted me to drive. (7L baby)

I dont care if you hate Holdens/Fords/V8/rotors etc, go for a drive in a good example of any of the above and you will be impressed.

If your not impressed then i say your more about the fashion and ego of your import rather then what it represents as an automotive flavour.

I like the fact that my '95 Skyline has more feature's and safety equipment than the equivalent SS Commodore of today. In some cases i might out gun them in a drag, BUT i guarantee you the skyline will out break them anyday. With 4 pot front and 2 pot rear's....... it stop's. That i believe is a damn good thing.

there's an interesting thread...... How fast can you stop......

Hmmmmm

Trouble with holdens is they keep stopping when you dont want them to. Went pretty well behind the tow truck (a mitsubishi haha!) The period that we had the pusbucket Holden was selling everything they could build and their after sales service was non existant and they had an absolutely stuffed attitude to warranty claims. Tell them your lights dont work, and they say something's wrong with your eyes! F*ck 'em I wont have another. EVER.

I'm not a holden, nissan, ford or any type of fan.

Yes, I love my skyline and love the technology, but man-o-man there is some very nice Holden's/Ford's out there.

However, I don't see how people can be so one-tracked. "I can't hop in that, its a Ford".

Just like any manufacturer you're going to get some good cars out of a bunch and some really shit cars.

Just like the VN, in my mind, they were one of the worst built cars. Their engines were shite!!. However, doesn't mean all of them are like that.

I know of a few big dickheads/idiots that drive skylines. None of them come on this forum (luckily). And they are the ones that give us bad names.

You have to remember, the dunnydoor is the one of the most popular cars in australia, so of course theres going to be alot of wankers out there, but you can't generalise and say all people that have commonwhores are dickheads. Although, alot of them are.

I think its usually the younger P plate drivers that cause the most havic. They're the only ones that I usually have encounters with. I haven't given anyone a drag yet. I don't think my car is all that quick and i don't want to risk loosing my lisence.

Although on our nice private drag strip, me and a R33 were both beaten hands down by a friends VN V8.

I think i've lost my self in this post, but you get the idea.

haha man, i love how SAU's turned into a holden/ford bashing shithouse of a forum, atleast WA section is still decent.

So u lot.. i see most posts from what? gts-t owners? r32 gts-t's? whale r33 gtst's?... yeh wow.. serious cars there mate.. yes some fast 1's but hate to tell you, but most times a gts-t import does on average wouldnt be better anything to rave about.

As for attitudes of drivers? what about the 99% of silvia drivers who think they're drift kings? or skyline owners who think that because they have a nissan badge think they're car is anything like the godzilla's that ruled bathurst?

Yes i drive a holden and YES i love imports.. but im getting sick pretty quick of these attitudes most of u idiots seem to have.

hey red17.. i have had 2 gen3 cars.. no piston slap. no oil issues.. and i know plenty more like that.

So if any of u morons(not all of u who posted, i did see some valid points) do want to have a decent arguement without idiocy involved. feel free to pm me.

final note of humour, HSVH8R in WA is on a 6cyl el falcon.. inferiority complex no doubt as it loses to most holdens it races :P

I agree there definitely is some very nice holdens out there dont get me wrong but if someone gave me one id be more than willing to be a commodore driver!

and yes i agree that all cars attract dickheads even imports! but then again you have to admit holdens and fords seem to attract more dickheads (nothing against holdens or fords as they are great cars im sure, just a few of the drivers out there)

just my thoughts

Back to the other point.

Holdens and Fords dominate the australian car market. Therefore, that increases the amount of dickheads that are going to hop into those cars.

Australians love the, "Has to be australian made"... "support australia".... which I have nothing against and thats probably what attracks more people towards these cars..... but who do you think owns Holden ? And the Ford cars we have here, are usually only made for Australians.. They have different Fords all around the world. Where Holden is only really known in Australia.

As one of the other guys posted, we should say, Some dickhead in holden.... Just as i would say, some knob jockie in a skyline.

Look dont get me wrong i didnt start this thread to bash Holdens - as much as i dont like them i was purely stating that the majority of arrogance that i have seen on the roads in my area have come from Holden drivers. Just my observation. I couldve posted something about Camry drivers who we all know are generally not the greatest but thats just stating the obvious.

I agree all car brands have produced good and bad cars and as much as i hate Holdens i think the Brock Commodores of the '80s was some of their best work. Sure as hell beats the shit out of the hat-full-of arses-ugly Y-Series HSV cars....

I think this thread should be closed now - too much conflict!!! As long as you like your own car, and your attitude doesnt suck on the road (the reason i intro-ed this thread) all is good.....

hey, this thread is good fun ;)

pft.. if HSV ever wanted a serious performance car they would do away with a lot of weight for a start..and probably do away with a couple of seats.. 1700kg or whatever it is for a HSV GTS is like a boat man! and summoner - what are you calling whales?

Whenever i think holdens i just think my flatmates VP that is currently sitting out there with a cracked head at ~200,000km, whereas my R31 (which i sold a while back) was still going strong on 260,000 on the original engine and still had a good 40,000 in it I think. Same era, just spot the reliability in terms of a jap engineered engine (RB30).. Mine started each day every day, his well never sounded like it was going to start ;)

Japanese are meticulous and have an idea to detail in every aspect of their cars, and that is why I would prefer to buy a Jap car any day of the week... go on call me "unAustralian" but hey i don't care :(

... budgets people look at the market the Japanese sell to, then consider what australian manufacturers have to do with much tighter budgets due to lower sales potential. (no export market etc)

broken... VN Gpa and R32 GTRs were my dream cars when in high school. Have to settle for a VL GpA as VNs still command pretty good money...

roy, the VN group A and VL Walkinshaw are the best things to come from HSV. i have always loved the VL Group A and i think that anything with a brock tag is going to be a collectors item.

i used to love watching the walky and vn racing against the r32 (and sierra/bmw etc)

ahh......... those were the days.

whoa whats goin on here. car enthusiasts should be getting together to fight the government (revenue rasing speed camera's) and other shitty organisations such as insurance companies (wont insure my import R31, even for 3rd party...pricks) rather than bitching about how holden/nissan/toyota drivers are all arseholes or whatever. shit im sure we're all guilty of being that arsehole with a bad atititude in a holden or skyline on a bad day at some stage.

my 2c

Well to me, if Australia manufactured world competitive cars, we would have more export markets. I think at the moment they're having a bit of success, because *finally* with the SS and HSV they have some cars with a bit of clout and up to the standards set by other manufacturers around the world.

Ok, its hard to sell into established markets, and we have higher costs associated with construction to say Korea or the like, but i think its the lack of good product that hinders the aussie manufacturers...not demand.

If Australia produced a 2L Turbo car that looked decent, had ~200kw and sold for under $50k think of how many new markets we could sell to.. Not that many countries are after a monsterous sized, petrol guzzling 5.7L V8.

Guest N13_Exa_SeGGy

i enjoy dragging off SS commodore in my turbo N13 Exa, it's one of the reasons why a bought an exa, to put a simple engine conversion in it (ca18det) then wipe the smile off some 'commonwhore' drivers. i'v been dynod at about 190kw, even tho i gotta FWD the LSD has made a big difference to balance it out

bottom line. commodores (commonwhores) suck!!!!!!!!

holden can kiss my:shake:

    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
