Car got broken into in my driveway last night. Lots and lots of things stolen. Lots of things smashed to steal things.

I am very very unhappy :D

All the Apexi gear was taken (RSM, AVCR, boost guage) so if anyone (particularly VIC members) hears of these and other things for sale in a dodgy manner - notify the police to check it out.

Really pissed to hear that mate.;) What f@rken a55ho1es!!!

Hope you get your car back to scratch and that the insurance doesn't stuff you around!!

Hate to say this, but sounds like some inside knowledge. How did they know that your alarm is not equiped with some kind of motion detector.

The reason the alarm did not go off is probably due to a lack of motion/infra red sensors. If they didn't open the doors or try to start the car the alarm could not detect the theives. If you wish to not install any motion detectors (as they are known to sometimes false alarm) an idea to to install a 'trigger switch' (similar to the ones in your doors or under your 'hood' and 'boot' lids) in your 'center console' and 'glove box';) . A theif will almost definately look in these areas for goods, and once they are opened they break the electrical circuit and the alarm will trigger. :uh-huh:

... bunch of savages. I dont understand why they take things like the AVC-R, its useless unless they pop the hood and take the MAP sensor, wiring and solenoid valves as well.

The hide of people, the courts have a lot to answer to, theft like this cost insurance companies $$$, owners heartache, and often these people are known to Police and have committed similar offences before.

... anyone read the comic PUNISHER when they were younger?

Anyways, hope insurance does the right thing by you, and your back motoring soon.

... and AL, is this is DIY job, is it a matter of a few $$$ at Jaycar then wiring them in series with those for the doors???

Its weird how most people who have their car's broken into or the ones we here about on here are from Sydney. Is Sydney really this bad? Looking at performance forums almost 95% of the stolen posts are from people in Sydney.

Surely this stuff has to happen elsewhere? I know it would but why does Sydney have so much more car theft then other cities?

Thanks all for your support.

I have spoken to the main Apexi distributers here in Melb asking them to notify police if anyone comes in wanting the 'extra' parts of the AVCR and RSM.

Re: serial nos - I don't have any of the ones from the car stuff - as they were on the car already. The other personal items taken had serials - have been given to police.

The GTR-88 plates were taken. If you see them driving around - call the cops.

Re: alarm - I have no idea how they got around it. Really really f*cked. :P

Quite upset about it all. Will keep you posted.

Thanks again

james

Jamezilla

Do you have motion/infra red sensors in the car? With a car like that, i would seriously consider an upgrade in car security.

Really sorry to read about loosing all those sentimental goods. A car can be fixed/replaced, but goods that have alot of personal value are priceless. One thing that wasn't stollen were your memories, sounds a little corny, but your gf will always be in your mind and heart.

    • Hmmm, what do you mean by getting weaker? And where did you get that test done? I've been wondering about my battery because the cold starts crank super slowly. The voltage is fine. Not sure if cranking amps can be checked at home. Battery is 4+ years old.
    • No. The simplest wastegate hookup, with no solenoid or other form of "boost control" (ie, control over your boost control, if you know what I mean) is a single hose, direct from the turbo outlet/hot pipe, straight and only to the wastegate actuator. It is that pressure signal that drives the wastegate to open, providing the boost control (and by "boost control" here, I mean, limiting how high it can go, which is essentially the spring pressure of the actuator). You only end up with tee pieces and alternate flow paths once you start adding things to the boost control system to allow you to determine how much of that boost signal makes it to the actuator. There are so many ways to do that that there is no single way to run the hoses and tees and the like. If you have a stock boost solenoid, then all it does is either allow all the boost signal to go to the actuator, or open up to allow some of it to bleed off. There needs to be a restriction in that bleeder to allow only a small amount to bleed off. And in a stock system, that would then be plumbed back to the turbo inlet (for "emissions control" reasons). That is actually what that nipple on your BOV return pipe could/would be for. If you have an aftermarket boost controller and solenoid, then the above is mostly true, but there is no need for a restrictor in the bleed, because the solenoid is pulse width modulated to create a variable bleed off. The air that escapes from the bleed can either be vented, or also returned to the turbo inlet. For emissions reasons it should be returned to inlet, but the amount of air being vented is so small that it really doesn't matter (either from an emissions perspective, or from an air-fuel ratio affecting perspective).
    • And other times you just need to go buy bigger injectors?
    • Yup. I actually just blew my turbo. LOL.  should have checked this thread before today. i also have no boost solenoid. so it should be...one line from wastegate to turbo inlet, and a T somewhere in that line that connects to the wastegate return pipe?
    • It's recommended, however I can assure you a good amount of people don't bother. FWIW, the OEM battery lasted 4.5 years and I changed it prematurely too, I reckon could have stretched it to 5 years.
