Who is John Dumbrose?

last time I had a disagreement, it was handled by Reno Marcheesi - and it was exactly as you said - WA not being kept up to date by DOTARS.

Reno was excellent, as soon as he had the up to date information available (I called DOTARS and asked why they didnt have it) there were no more problems.

Pretty reasonable guys as a whole, just doing a job.

well a month a go or so..i took my Type R to the pits in midland..didnt pass cause indiacators were low..and pod filter had no bracket..some indian guy checked it out and was a tight ass..so next day took it to Warwick Pits

...passed spot on with no problems..

had a GTR front kit..and the indicators were still lower then the legal limit..but they were easy going guys and let me off..was under by about..70mm..and car was rolling on 18inchs too...

should give Warwick a go early in morning..like realy early..

but with my R33 now...havnt been pits yet and hoping i dont have too ...:S

the whole system is a crock of crap sorry to say they can pretty much keep failing you everytime if they feel like it and thats not rite the fact u can fail at one pits and pass at another is pretty stupid

im about to take my car through for a second time fingers crossed i pass coz im so over it, i have never even modified mine

and yeh ive been told they cant check stuff that isnt written on your slip is this right or wrong coz i got done for things that werent written on the sheet funnily enuf nothing that was on the sheet was brought up

I also have a similar kit.. Will post a pic shortly.

Edit: There, uploaded.

I think ur's will pass before mine, because yours meets the 400mm from the side and over 300mm from the bottom 'rule'. Im taking my bumper off tomorrow and taking it to Altec panel and paint in maddington to have them fix the cracks in it, and mount it with some new 'visable' indicators.

Then i will be up for round 3.

yea i got hassled by the pols a couple nights ago

stopped me for a good 30min searchin every bit of my car and tryin to pick on it , last thing they could come up with was my car was too low cause they couldnt put a finger between rear tyre and guard... just whipped out my permit for 'sports suspension' and on my way i went , dosed them hard too when i left for wasting my time!

"...Reno was excellent, ..."

Hes the man, helped me and some mates out with our convertable going back oooo ten years ago . Good human

got done again today. for "Suspension in the front - NO GIVE". Factory suspension.

Gotta go to EAST PERTH as stated on the sheet. I Hate Lyf.

Jeez, you just got that thing and youve been stickered twice, damn!

Dude is there something your doing wrong when you get pulled up. ie excessive noise, turning the tyres etc before the stop or giving the police lip during the stop.

well check this out a while back, i just parked my car and these cops like parked behind my car and stoped me from walking, then asking me do i have a number plate at the front of my car. (was parked in front of a tree) i was like yeah, so they looked at the front seeing that the number plate was on the right side of the car and they were like it either has to be in the middle of the left. they didnt give me a yellow cause i told em that i have been passed the pits twice with it like that and also i have been like pulled over like 10 times now for just random license checks and such and non of em saying stuff about my number plate being on the right hand side

Why put the plate on the right? You know the answer and so do police. Its the same as not having the plate on or bending the plate. Just be thankful they didn't yellow you. Sh*t like that is what they pick on and yes its all their fault. Obscuring your plate is an offense and you can cop a $100 fine and a yellow sticker. If I were a cop I would do the same for your stupidity.

I took an imported fully kitted supra over the kelmscott pits back a year ago, the older chap let a ton of things slide as long as I "promised to fix them" or I told him that "I have the part on order", but he threatened to fail my car if I didn't stand away to the side and stop talking (distracting him) hehehe. Seemed like a nice enough bloke

Obscuring your plate is an offense and you can cop a $100 fine and a yellow sticker.

I copped that exact punishment once (100fine and sticker) but what they deem as "obscuring" can be percieved in many ways, it's more the interpretation of the law. I practically sucked the officers dick being a kiss-ass and apologetic (even though what he deemed as "obscuring" wasn't really obscuring) and they still gave me a sticker.

Guys - we all drive imports, it's what happens. Any more "I got a yellow" threads and I'm going to cut myself. Sheesh!

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
