Boost controller, replace coils, while you are doing large upgrades...........

...replace oil pump , water pump and timing belt....get the bearings and bolts changed at the same time though.

Then after it has cost you $5000+ :( to install your $7000 :) dollars of parts you will need to upgrade

or pay some attention to the brakes and suspension......and after $3000 :O of this....

.....you will then need some rims and sticky rubber so you can get a 1/4 mile result...this would cost about

$4000. :O And you haven't finished yet.

Believe me ....cause these are the figures you are facing.....

If you are worried about $3000 wait until you finish your upgrades. :(

As far as the -5(2530) turbo's.....they are the best choice for 320AWKW's and you have to have the Poncams to get this figure.

the budget always blows out.

ps..215000ks on my 26 and its un opended pushing around 320awkw t04z etc etc. been doing it for about a yeah. or 60k. loves it :)

just dont rev it past 8 and dont bounce of the rev limiter and put an extra litre of oil in it :)

It is important to set the RPM limiter at say 7700....so you don't.

320Awkws with a t04z?What power rating is the turbo?

gun32gtr,

The other thing is that with the gt-ss turbo's your 1/4 mile figures will be( with your mods )around,

12.5 seconds on street tyres and 12's with stickys.

I am searching for 12's with road tyres and 11.5's with stickys and thats why I picked the 2530's.

Dont pay to mush attention to awkws and rwkws,....look at the times people have posted up

then look at the power levels they are producing .(most of the time they are inconsistent.)

It is also wise to see the modifications they have completed and what tune and boost they normally run.

Cheers and good luck with the upgrade.

what are you talking about tekin? My 32 GTR run 12.4 with 250rwkw. with street tyres. and that was after a grand total of 3 passes in the GTR. and about 10 passes in my whole life, so it would be fair to say I'm by no means the greatest drag racer out.

Hey tekin, i am a mechanical engineer and im doing a Phd research at the moment regarding drivetrain losses due to bearings, cv joints etc. and i have never heard of loosing so much power trough a diff or smth else for that matter, i mean heavy equipment with differentials the size of a mans length dont have that kind of loss. and i run about 450 AWKW run 10.6 with slicks and massive launches, so i dont understand why keep blating stupid info. and ps when i promote ill ask one of the mods here to have my research stickied, so there will be no further disscussion possible

what are you talking about tekin?

I have wondered that myself many times.

STOCK Turbo'd R32 GTR's have been able to get into the 11's...

So i absolutely fail to see the reason an R33 GTR with GT-SS's on it cant run a mid 11 on street tyres given a decent driver.

And possibly a very low 11 on good tyres.

ferni ran a 12.05 in his GTR with GT-SS, i think its fair to say that if he have another dozen passes he will be into the 11's quite easily... AND on street tyres.

He hasnt had any drag expirience in his car, so benefit of the doubt would have it that a much better time is there with practice

2530's being a minimum to run 11's... is quite simply wrong, and a very un-educated statement

Thanks for the discussion guys,

I hope this is helping you come to a decision that you are comfortable with gungtr32.

As for the replies to my post ,I am going on experiece and drag Pb times posted in the Vic section of this Forum.

Un-educated....no......there are 7 people only who have posted below 12 seconds(Vic) and I have not

seen the set up they have.

As what dirtgarage has posted...he has stated that in different modes awkws shows up lower on the dyno.

As far as being an engineer and seeing whether there is hardly any loss of power through the drive train.

You also have to take in consideration the wheels and the friction they cause thus the loss of power they

put to the road.......awkws is power delivery to the road...not loss of drivetrain power.@the wheels

Nismoid...O2 sensors??? How does this relate to kws?(at the wheels)...or is this in another thread that has no real questions answered. As for Ferni.......he himself has probably re-though about realistic times by now,

using the gt-ss set up.

If we all got our figures on the same dyno.....we can compare results and directly see our pb times

and how it all pans out.

gun32gtr.....check the power levels people are stating the times they have posted these are all over the place..with the same mods.

With gt-ss turbo's your quickest time with the modes you have posted in this thread is 12 seconds with stickies, which is a great time and you will be more than happy driving the car daily. It will also be great on the track

If any-one has mis-understood my intentions on trying to help they are mistaken.

This Forum is a great resource for every-one, and I am just stating the truth...at least what I have read :D

I will not defend my findings in this post again.

Cheers

Tekin

Since your not going to defend yourself its "Hunting Season"

I dont really agree with that..i dont think you can use blamket statements, especially when you havent witnessed the crs you are using as the basis of your judgements do their runs...or even speak to the owners!

ddecided tto go with the gt2860r but just not sure whether -5 or -7 i want to do more mods in future so i think the these will be the go?

GT2860 Turbine (-5) (Similar to the HKS GT2530) :

-Wheel: 53.85mm w/ 76 trim

-Housing: .64 or 0.86 ar (with wastegate divider)

housing id go the .64 yes as the .86 would be far to big for what im after i think...

these are of ebay, and does anyone ever purchased these turbos of ebay b4/

Yes. With the amount of air flow produced by the garretts I dont think a pneumatic bleed valve will be able to bleed off any considerable amount of air to keep those wastegates shut, let alone keep boost levels stable

make sure you keep us updated with dyno figures etc

very good read actually.

im doing my turbos soon as well, and i have GT2860-5s in mind. i was told they are quite responsive, yet still bigger than the GTSS. can anyone tell me when their 2860s (2530s) spoll up in the stock 2.6l engine?

also, if you wanna go a size bigger, you can always use GT2871s. i found out that they are equal to HKS GTRS ones...will be laggy ,but more power will be produced.

also, do the oil pump and sump while you re taking the eninge out....at least get a N1 pump, with a sump baffle....just to stay on the safe side of it...

yeh thought a ebc would be on the cards... yes gt2860r -5 id say i will be going... not going to pull the engine just hope she holds up?????/

thanks again

p.s will keep dyno results posted

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
