Digging up an old thread here but are the 1997 stageas different? looking at that last pic, the radiator water pipe is in the way on my engine. Also, any tips on getting the 3 centre head bolts out, as they seem to be on the verge of stripping. Stupid hex heads...

Did you get the M6 bolt out? dont worry about the spring inside the inlet cam gear, just undo the four screws and the plate and spring will come out then you have access to the main nut or bolt that holds the cam gear on

I too felt uneasy about letting that spring go but when you remove it it will all become clear

I nearly stripped a head stud too but if your in doubt get a brand new alen key and cut it down and hit it into the stud gently with a hammer to make sure its in all the way then put your 10mm socket over it with your breaker bar (hope your not using a rattle gun for these studs)

When i done it I took the few pipes that are on top and around the left side off the turbo to give more some room. Then I removed the turbo and made my way to the manifold undone the bolts and it seem to come off easy enough for my self. Now to put  new manifold on and put the new turbo on with customizing my dump pipe and exhaust out let to fit my turbo. Have learnt alot and teached myself a long the way. Have all most gone over everything under my hood and under the car since i got it.

    • Maybe also really stiffly sprung track cars. Get the inside wheel up in a corner and all the fun stops. Also me sometimes (rarely) when I have to stand on the brake to convince the diff to drive the wheel that is still on the ground when I'm trying to diagonally get over severe driveway entrance, etc.
    • I feel like I'm missing something. You had an authorised installer come out and install a new alarm. Post install the car doesn't start, and you aren't getting the installer back to fix what they did wrong?
    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
