Ferni, come to a renew/saunsw track day at wakefield park to see some bloody quick rx's. Maybe the GTR driver needs some leasons,,,what did he say "these speeds are scary".

Neil.

Yeah i wish there were some fast ones down here. I like the Series 6's - doesn't everyone. Just haven't seen them perform like i've heard they can. I know of a few people with them, all to scared to track them.

The MCR R34 had too much power for the touge stage, The RE RX7 is a fully striped out thing with a basically standard motor.

The MCR R34 will totally decimate it around a circuit

Not true mate.

The RE amemiya FD has run a 58 or 59 seconds around tsukuba, with stock turbo's... not far off the MCR car.

Not far off around Tsukuba is good enough because heaps of different cars are separated by poof tenths of a second but on more free flowing track i think itll be very far ahead

I agree to a point, but I think we have different opinions on what defines 'decimate'.

I think it would be a close run thing. And I'd imagine the GT-R would be quicker on the more flowing tracks, it's where the power makes the difference, but not miles ahead.

I personally think the RX-7 is a better handling car, but to each their own.

i believe its fair to say on a course like that....its very unfair for the gtr. that whole course had tight turns and hardly no straight full accelleration points.

i believe a r34 gtr will destory any type of rx7 on the perfect circuit, with tight turns long turns long straights and short ones aswell.

the rx7s biggest weapon is its handling.......on a course like the one touge

Very quick for what is largely a stock car on street tyres. Cool vid too.

thanks

So a general R34GTR Vs "any" RX7 - Okay...... SP RX7.

So a perfect circuit, tight corners, short straights, long striaghts, and long turns..... "The RX7's biggest weapon is its handling"......... The GTR would be far superior than the RX7 in hard launching, thats it mate. After that. the difference is driver error for cars equally modified.

The FD RX7 won 12 hour races x3 at Bathurst in a car which included facotry A/C still fitted.... I suppose Bathurst isn't a real race track.

Please, dont just jump on the band wagon. You know jack about RX7's.

This course has another advantage for the fd3s: it is a downhill race.

There is a down hill and a uphill run ?

When it boils down too it, both cars are legends, both cars are major racing winners.

No, both battles are downhill, which evens out the fd3s' power disadvantage to the godzilla. R34s are good for their power and performance, but on a course with lots of sharp cornering involved, it won't have much space to do anything.

As Andy has said, both are excellent cars with great track records with their own strengths; an fd3s will dominate on some tracks, and an r34 on others, given equally skilled drivers.

in the 4 car battle I did notice a few things. The silvia was as hard tuned as they get. full sequential box, 520hp GT spec engine... hmm both the GTR and Supra were road cars and the FD was just a 'boost up' level of mods with a measly 380hp. to cap this off the silvia was the lighest car of the lot. if anything else had one Tsuchiya would have had to retire from racing...

Wouldn't you guys call it even and no advantage. RX7's superior handling chassis vs GTR's mechanical grip advantage using ATTESSA ?

Not on a Skyline forum where a skyline has lost...

:P

markimak: I got that Tsukuba info from memory. I haven't seen a list of record times, just from what I've read in various magazines and on DVD's.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
