cheers mate - now that its not dark anymore, should be easier to do up that one last pesky bolt

wont bother about the brake upgrade at this stage; another day.

You sold your bike yet tangles? They can be rather lethal more often than not.

I had two friends that have come off theirs lately. Nato came off his R6 and broke his back, wrist, and both his legs near lobethal/woodside.

Tangles where did you get that invisible bike picture from i wouldnt mind finding it. :nyaanyaa:

Still not sold, unvelievable. Might have to take it to a shop closer to the city I think. Priced to sell at $10k.

Read about your mate on the R6, terrible news. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Umm, what invisble bike picture? Dont get what ya mean........ For my bike there are a cple of pics in the link below, or the bike can be seen currently down south at the Yamaha shop next to barncle bills at Morphett vale. I never really took that many pics of it.

um, off topic, why the hell are imports priced over-expensively (compared to other states) only in SA? can someone please give me a reason I'm trying to by my car and im so f**ken confused its not funny.

It's all supply and demand. In eastern states its high supply (More people wanting to sell) and low demand (less people wanting to buy). Here it's different.

Our market prices seem to have been falling lately though! bought my good condition series 1 r33 with all sorts of mods and 187rwkw for $13500 in late july - nothing wrong with it at all.

and the invisible bike pic is vanges signature hehe:

had a friend of mine email me some details of a 33 her mate's importer came across

series 2 r33 gtst

107000km

kit

18s

turbo timer

pod

exhaust

$15k pricetag landed in melb, ready to register

only catch is its auto. when they bidded on it at the USS auctions they didnt realise it was auto

pics will come soon if anyones interested, and i can give ya contact details to get in touch if interested

also theres an Evo 8 been imported for $38k landed and complied. 03 model, aus spec ones worth $48k - $50k on carsales. Hav piccies of that one too

I went to Sydney when I bought my car 2 years ago. It would have easily been another 4 - 6 grand if I bought the same car over here. Gotta watch them over there though, some are really well priced, others are way too much money for their condition.

Like mike says there's bugger all supplyers & lots of demand for them over here relative to the eastern states. I've only ever seen maybe 2 or 3 R33's on the road in Sydney over 4 separate visits within a fairly short time. Most I saw were in car yards on Paramatta road. Import central that place.

I think you're referring to vange's avatar??

Brendan, all the best with the turbo install.

Actually I was just today wondering why the guy that tuned my car only left the boost at 11psi?! He reckoned if he put the boost any higher it'd hit boost cut - is that true? I thought there was no boost/fuel cut or anything - its just if the ecu detects too much airflow it will hit R&R??

Made me wonder if I took it to a different tuner would they be able to get more power out of it....hmmm.

I found boost cut on my S2 GTS-t at about 14 psi, you know when you hit it because it cuts all engine power momentarily, not nice. I had to go back to the stock boost controller as the ball & spring lump of junk I'd been using wouldn't keep the boost down with my new dump. I was doing low revs so it didn't ping on anything, just a sudden blahh no power.

before the safc install (and with 3" exhaust) I was definitely hitting R&R at higher revs...very noticeable loss in power. Not a complete cut though, just felt like the car was running very rich all of a sudden.

All good now though. :D

What's happened to all the immaculate R32GT-R's. Just when I am about to sell my current car to purchase one, they all seem to have disappeared. Typical of my luck.

I suppose my problem is that i want something pristine. Guess I'll have to play the waiting game when my Silvia has gone and hope something pops up.

has autospeed ever written a positive comment about skylines?

clearly they favor wrx's and clearly they're not big fans of the gtr.

the reason i say that is because most other reports of the gtr are quite different and much more positive.

autospeed mention things like the gtr being hard to park and being too wide to drive on city roads?? what were they driving in, the bike lane? i guess its all about perspective. i drive a wagon and dont find it hard to park or do u-turns in...

anyway this is about the 3rd article i've seen from autospeed effectively bagging all gtr's and yet I've seen a couple of topgear episodes where they praise it.

I dont believe the article is a fair review of the gtr's. not to worry... :P

    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
