ITV is really going to make me sick with their fascination of Hamilton. Their Sepang preveiw is more about how good Hamilton is going to be, and if he stuff's up he's still our golden boy. Its non stop praise and excuses for the boy. Talk about favoritism

I havent heard thier Melbourne broardcast but i was told it was pretty... 'focused' on certain people and cars

Bring back Murray. At least his insane man love for schumi was interesting to listen to

Actually, for much of his life James Hunt was a reefer smoking pisshead. He cleaned up his act in the end - just before he died from a heart attack. I think there is a lesson in that for all of us.

Favourite James Hunt quotation.

"We can't quite see the pits from our commentary position."

Explanation:

The commentary postition was in the BBC studio in London. The race was in Mexico.

They were going through some of murray's mistakes at the GP (pretty sure thats where I heard it anyway)

stuff like

'The car in front is completely different, but its exactly the same as the car behind it'

and a few others that I had in my head but just went blank

I'd rather hear about Hamilton than Button though....seeing as how I have to listen to biased commentary on at least 1 pom...

i hope it doesn't go. Albert Park is one of the best circuits on the calender. it has everything from the high speed stuff, slow corners, flowing chicanes and provides great opportunities for overtaking.

however, i'd like to see what the QLDer's can come up with. i hope its not just the Champ car circuit or something similar, as that would be boring in an F1 car (by comparision to Mel...)

I love Murray and respect him greatly, but his time has come and gone. It would be like Hakkinen coming back and running midfield....

ROFL!!! at James Hunt!!! Love him or hate him, at least he created opinions!!! Great personalities from that era, Hunt, Lauda, Villeneuve

Martin Brundle is excellent and James Allen is at least bearable. I miss Crompton.

One thing I am surprised hasn't been brought up more in this thread. No more traction control 08 onwards!!! I have long said this is the solution in F1........next year will show if I am right or not

Not mention well founded, as much as Schumi made a few mistakes in his career, he was very gifted, very quick and had more cajolies than the rest of the grid put together. His only worthy rival, Senna aside, was Mika, I really liked Mika, but I love Michael. F1 will not be the same without him, much rests on Kimi and Massa now for Ferrari's prestige and overall future..

went through the last couple of pages and couldn't find anything so i hope this isn't a repost.

Spyker are taking STR and Super Aguri to court over the customer cars.

Officials have confiscated parts from Toro Rosso in Malaysia to compare with the Red Bull car.

can't see why spyker would waste their already small budget on a big court fight with Honda and Red Bull.

The reason Spyker is taking them to court is so that both teams do not qualify for world championship points at the end of the season. Thus moving Spyker 2 places up the table to finish 9th in the constructors championship. This place is worth roughly 10 million pounds more to the team as a reward by FOM.

That i would suggest is quite a lot of money to the team as their budget would be significantly smaller than most/all the teams. I personaally think they have a point and hope that both STR and Aguri are banned from points.

Yes he was a good driver and yes he had some stones on him but by saying "as Schumi made a few mistakes in his career" completely glosses over the insane and downright dangerous behavior of the man. Your trivialising the fact that the man insanely tried to take out two opponents in season finalies with what can only be described as 'severe brain fade'. But this has already been covered and everyone got to express thier feelings so ill spare everybody having to relive it.

Also i think as a shumi fan your projecting itv's and hence your thoughts on the rest of us. Im sure many people have had enough of listening about him and his team and will be more than happy to see the backside of him so that we can get back to the good old days of F1 were the sport recognised more than one great champion at a time.

    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
