Hey all, I just ordered these ($270, still need to be told delivery cost):

Are APP any good? I was contemplating the Endless ones, but for $350ish plus delivery I went with the APP brand. I might get the clutch line as well when I get the funds for the clutch itself as well....

I use the nismo lines on my GTR and they are very high quality. If anything though the APP ones are just as good or better. They are not specifically ADR approved, but I would suggest their design and manufacture do meet ADRs, they just have never sought or gained 'approval' (if in fact such a thing exists).

Just a vague memory.

The difference between an ADR approved braided line and not is a little rubber sleeve that goes inbetween the hose and the connector when its crushed. It'll have a compliance number on it... That's the only difference, line and fittings are exactly the same!

Any of your local ABS service centres can make ADR approved lines! :cool:

Thats not correct because the goodridge hoses are ADR approved and they don't have the rubber sleeve

I quickly searched for tutorials but theres none on changing brake lines. Is it easy or hard to do? I have to replace my front wheel barrings soon so I can do both.

Tom they are not hard to do. The hardest part of the process is getting hold of a brake bleeder etc to do the job.....bit messy too :cool:

What Mr keets says it correct...tech they make your car illegal and unroadworthy but I am yet to hear of a claim or otherwise (roadworthy etc) being knocked back because of them.

I really do need to bleed the brakes again I think (or get a new brake booster). I can hold my foot at a certain point in the brake and I get a constant squealing sound :P

Do Nissan sell the brake bleeders or are they a supercheap item?

Are you sure the squealing isn't coming from the actual brake pads/rotors? It is a common thing on skylines and I'm sure a search here would bring a heap of threads about it. Does the pedal feel soft...ie you brake at a point and to maintain the same braking force the brake pedal drops more?

Brake bleeders are basically a hand pump (although you can get elec ones)....you disconnect the brake line at the caliper, attach the bleeder to the system and pump the fluid out. You also use it once you are finished to get all the air out the system. Most tool places have them....

No, its defaintely a booster or master cylinder seal because if I get it in the right spot it just keeps on and on squealing ..... ( :P ). It happens everytime I stop. Pedal is soft also but thats what ABS does anyway isn't it?!

I bled the brakes through the ABS bleed holes last time so maybe that was the problem.....

hi guys im currently in the middle of a brake upgrade on my r33 gtst, im going to run rda slotted rotors on all 4 corners as with QFM pads, whilst i was swapping out the front rotors today i notice that on one side the hard line that runs into the caliper from the bracket where the hard line turns to a rubber line is broken.

can u get these from any decent brake store or do they need to come from nissan?, i wouldnt mind upgrading to braided lines but does this replace the hard lines alltogether by just running straight to the caliper?

    • At least yours have parkour down pat. One of mine will still trip over his own shadow and fall over... He's a special type of cat... Ha ha ha
    • The question then becomes - was there any fluid coming from that hole before you did the rebuild ?    You may not have noticed, of course.   Depending on how you did the rebuild, the possibility has to be considered that somehow (cleaning ?)  fluid entered that hole and is now being 'forced'  out by small movements of the proportioning valve.   From the factory, there's actually a small rubber plug in that hole but with age and under-bonnet heat it's quite common for it to 'go missing'.  That rubber plug is designed to allow the venting process but also to prevent 'stuff' getting to the area (prevent corrosion, etc).   The plug is also not available as a spare part AFAIA. Personally I wouldn't race and buy a new master just yet but keep an eye on the area to see if the 'leak' continues.   If you're concerned about brake fluid damaging nearby paintwork, cable tie a piece of suitable absorbant material over the hole and remove/monitor occasionally.    Operation of the proportioning valve and the brake master itself won't be affected, but also keep an eye on brake fluid level, of course. In terms of a new master, the genuine part is getting expensive, unfortunately.  Amayama is showing AUD900+.   I was searching recently and there's an aftermarket part available from Japan made by 'Parts Assist': https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=BNR32%2bBM50&p=1 Whether it's any good I have no idea, although in my experience Japanese aftermarket stuff is pretty good quality-wise.   The above site allows overseas buyers to purchase stuff more easily from Japan but there are fees and shipping costs, of course.   The original Japanese seller page is here: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p1197401228 Copper/Nickel is fine but I still prefer bundy tube and it's also cheaper.
