for the price of motor alone, wouldnt you go close to rebuilding a rb30 block with 26head? you could use the 25 box Aswell? just a thought if your considering rebuilding a front cut.. your only gona use the motor anyways from the cut.. makes more sense to me and itll make more power which is what we all want..

hey dead32

u end up selling ur torque beast yet?

looks like a few guys in aus have done the conversion.

So that is an RB26 head on an RB30 block? That would go alright. I was talking to a mate who said that RB30 blocks were not so good as they dont have oil squiters under the pistons.

hi guys, i thought of putting a 26 into my 33gtst. Ended up going the 26/30. more tourque!

made more sense when you add up all the costs.

That all depend on what sort of bottom end is being built for IMO.

I chose 2.6ltr with GT-SS, you dont need 3ltrs if you have a good set of turbos like that which come on early enough without the extra capacity.

There has been a prepped sump on Ebay cheap as. Don't ask me to post the link.

Speaking of Sumps Ash, what happened to mine? I don't actually need it since deciding on the 26/30 in the 25t. If it has been moved on has the recipient paid money?

agreed, ive been in rb26 gts-t's, and the tractability due to the linear power delivery is what i like. imo a rb26/30 would be a beast of course, but also a potential burnout machine! Your already sticking the motor into a lighter car, and as nismoid mentions with some nice responsive turbos makes a good setup. i do see the point of the 30 bottom end as rebuild costs are likely to be similar, but dont think i'd do it personally. Also with the 30 i would imagine you would lose some of the rb26's inherent screamer attitude!

The easy choice though is keeping the revs low for longevity, but still make plenty of tractable power. I've never been keen on revving the guts out of an engine all the time but they can do it. Mikes car up there pulls some decent rpm.

once youve driven a car with a 25/30 or better yet a 26/30...The power curve is very linear and comes on stronger from a lower rpm. Helps produce more mid range or average power...rather then peaky power with lag.

I did the rb26 to a 32gtst. Simple cut the diff off the side, change to the gtst engine mounts and bolt it in. Wiring loom plugs straight in. That it for a r32 but a 33 might be different.

Wave all the info from the talkers to one side. And lisen to the do'ers on the other. Why build a 25/30 when you still don't get solid lifters, you get smaller cams and smaller injectors that you would get bigger with a 26. It will cost you a fortune to build it not to mention the time and hassles. Go the 26's are built to rev and they love it. The old gtst used to launch from still with 255's on the rear in second gear.

Why would you bother rebuilding the motor when you get it. Just use it. See if you like how hard the car goes and base your future mods from there. Why waste money if you don't have to.

Also the comment on front cuts being from track cars is a bit b/s##t.

Most front cuts that come over are almost all stock. Not race motors with bigger turbos/ forged internals/ cams etc.

Also 26's aren't to laggy with the new turbos out now.

This is my opinion from experience but its your call. All I know is there are to many people out there that get caught in the hype!

If you get a nice small set of twins you wont have a "peaky" car with lag or anything at all.

ok..ill better that...how about a nice set of twins with the 3l block under the 26 head? Take a good 800rpm off the lag.

Im just hooked on 30dets... :)

And what, have boost at idle? :)

i dont think i need boost that soon

Haha yeah thats a good call :) But seriously I want to do this, but have to be careful as I'm a poor MCSE (Microsoft) student who works full time thrashing servers and fixing PEBKAC errors. So i don't want to waste money. I got the mad old ex race mechanic to help with the conversion just want to make sure I don't spend my money twice :)

i really like the idea of this thread. So my next question is: what is my engine bay worth!? :)

rebuilt rb25 GTR crank and rods, ACL race series pistons, o-ringed block, stock head with poncams and new valve springs, less than 20,000kms old, stock ex-honed mani, near new full 2835proS HKS turb kit, HKS 555cc injec, new splitfire coils, Z32 AFM and tuned PFC, and the whole lot spotlessly clean and shiny :). Good for 280+rwkw.

Would parting it out get me much more than selling the lot as a whole, and would it be worth the hassle selling a whole load of items separately?! (bear in mind im not even in the country, lol)

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
