Hi Adrian, VERY interested and I am in Perth and can get cash ready when you need it.

So whats everyones opinions - is the HKS or the Trust the pick?

I think the V-spec trust is supposed to have a more efficient turbulator design in the core to assist heat transfer, but I have heard from a number of tuners the HKS units flow the best...

I guess based on a stock or hi-flowed turbo the better cooling is probably more relevant that maximum flow support?

If they are quoting you 2k for a hybrid install they are making lots of cream on that pie. But hey, we are supposed to support them. You can get a hybred intercooler for around 800 and pay someone around 600 to install it. I believe the hybrid is as good a core as the hks or trust units, however i wouldnt say they are better. If you can get a trust kit for 1300 id say that would be the way to go.

By the way i saw a hybrid install done by a company we are not allowed to mention on here because how much they suck, at lets just say this install include a very very very very tight 180 degree bend, and 3 bars of the cooler blocked by the return pipe, i almost choked on my donar kebab.

This is also a reason the kit would be better, the tanks are designed for rb passover pipe, im yet to see a hybrid installed well on a rb engine with standard crossover pipe.

Man that intercooler install was crap, but everyone thinks this place is good cause they have a 9 second rotor, oh wow!

macka, already knew that :) just forgot

I DON'T GET OFF WHERE IN MY POSTS I SAID I WASN'T SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES?

So lets keep this short and sharp, if you're interested post in here, if you ain't dont! i know that hybrid coolers are absolutely awesome coolers as i have researched up on them quite a bit but if theres a chance you can get a japanese brand for around the same price what would you go for? and i have taken the customs thingo into account so those still interested can ya pm me :)

adrian :D

We will shortly be able to offer our own Coolers - identical to Hybrid - installed with polished stainless piping and silicon connections for around 1800 bucks installed. More than a backdoor jap import for sure, but you get that. Bear in mind that the Hybrid kit with mild steel piping sells for 1580 plus freight plus fitting.

    • Sounds good Hmm suppose the main thing is, how much do you care about this car? The filler doesn't make for a very good water barrier lol. If there was a tiny little bit of rust forming now, that in 3 to 5 years time becomes obvious under the paint (starts to bubble up), would it bother you?
    • I already have the ability to datalog the voltage... what I can't do is correlate it to what the gauge is showing when I'm looking at the data at a later date. Or something like this. Except getting the oil to 125C+ involves me going 200+kmh at the track so you can imagine this is a little tricky unless I do something like note what the voltage is when I am at the top of 5th gear so I have a point to reference on. Drove car today. O2 still reading richer because hopefully not a leak instead of massive restriction I've introduced. Car really doesn't sound like a LS. It's quite strange. Pulled a bit of fuel out up top. This does potentially explain why my spark plugs looked like the car was running pretty over-rich. If I was tuning it to a ~12.7 which in reality was far richer than that in the past. It will be handy to have the dyno WB to compare my WB to to compare notes that's for sure. At this point I'm happy to just sit in the passenger seat and tune the thing given I've got about 7 million hours on the platform lol.
    • Yeah I understand you have to pay for an updated map or subscription service or something. But I can't even find a current map for Australia. My map is dated 2017, but didn't this car version still sell in Australia until 2021?   Also, just as an aside, the navigation system warns you of traffic incidences ahead.....why would they include that on a map they knew is not receiving live information. I am forever going to be warned of an incident that probably existed for 30 minutes 8 years ago.
