I'm happy with my results 13th and in the top 5 rwds again, but what happened to Ryan he's normally waving the flag at the top. Did you have car troubles mate?

Yeah what was the verdict with the full slicks? Help or hinderence? Did they get warm enough to grip?

Bris,

Getting power down = Dont get out of 1st. In second I tend to nail it more because there's not as much response and I don't want to get caught off the ball.

If you are in 1st, okay you will hit the limiter a bit (something we are both accustomed to) but you always have heaps on tap ready for action.

DON'T GET OUT OF FIRST!

Whatever you do don't tell Mr Brisby to not to use the limiter, it sound so good and he never mind giving it :D .

i am happy i didnt come last ;-) it was fun. all i can say is that i was getting better by the end of the day. long wang killed me plus the first battle. and thankx for the videos martin excellent job.

Yes.. thanks for the video's .... great work :D

LOL...so how do you go so quick on the back track? I for the life of me couldnt use the throttle at all on the Long Wang. Even using 3rd gear it was hairy with wheelspin. Good fun and good for scaring passengers but it sure sux when you are actually trying to carry some corner speed :D

Also i'd like to say the skill sets at these things has stepped up a level from everyone, but from what I saw the standout performances were from:

Adz and Mav to get the fastest time on an event.

Gareth for having the hardest launching car of the day and some very consistant times.

Geoff Beable - More than a second quicker than everyone else on the long wang. Amazing!

Pete - Shows what happens when your not more worried about filming yourself.

Craig Moor - A big step up in pace from other DECA's

Snowy - About time you went a touring rally without hitting a cone.

Troy - U scare me on LW, but with concentration and an adjusted handbrake you could finish top three RWD.

James - Didn't look fast, but you were, must have been doing it too easily.

Snowy - About time you went a touring rally without hitting a cone.

Haha - or spinning!

There is no question that the secret to winning these style of events is making no mistakes. Not just in not hitting cones but avoiding spins, going the right way, etc as well. I think this is where the EVO's have the advantage in these types of events as to nail a perfect run in a GT-R (or a RWD car for that matter) you have to be so close to the point of over-cooking the turns. Where as the EVO's are more biased to understeer which will never lose you as much time if you get it wrong as a big oversteer lose will.

But the only reason Gareth and Newton didn't possibly win their respective classes was errors. Make none and you'll be right up the top.

But to make things a little harder for the next one since everyone seems to be getting so much better than when we first started these days - the morning skidpan sessions are probably going to lose the practise runs. We'll keep them out the back for safety reasons but the skidpans will be timed from the start (mostly to make sure we can get through the whole program). Doing this means we should be able to get all the timed runs in and keep the free time at the end which I think everyone enjoys and gives people the chance to mess about. But it means improving map reading skills. :)

wow, i didn't think i did that bad, but i guess that goes to show how you all improved and i haven't... because with that performance a few decas ago i probably would of got top 5 or close to it.

All i've got to say is, DAMN CHEATER EVOS!!!!!

haha oh dear, I thought I had a relatively 'clean' day but looking back on it I spun twice and hit a bunch of cones... one of these days I will get through a deca without hitting anything

amazing that the big Kakimoto did so well, how does he fit it through the gates! well done to everyone the level of driving has definately gone up a notch (not mine lol)

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
