I wasnt sure wayne....

I thought they might just was going to wait and see.....

I'll also drop your exhaust off in the next few nights.... but i'll speak to you about that..

All i can say is the EPA are actually cool i had no issues with them before anyone asks

I got the letter in the mail from when i was defected back in nov....

They were cool very nice and for a change helpful the informative as to what was wrong with the car and how I could go about having each thing fixed, after all the shit i went through with vic roads I was impressed.

I have until the 20th of March the guy was super nice and gave me an extra week to have it all clear in which time i can drive the car around without any worries.

After that Ii can only go to and from place of repair and then high chance of rego getting suspended as per a normal defect...

In regards to what do they look for id prob saying everything the guy who did the check on the car is a qualified mechanic not a wanker who knows nothing about cars.. So he took one look at my turbo and goes lol that isn’t a stocki is it which was cool...

He was cool about my plenum he said end of the day its not going to make all that much of a difference...

I would look at the whole situation as to how you approach the place, if you go pissed off because you have to be there and look like a wanker they will treat you as one and have no respect for you... If you are polite and ask questions to the problems with each thing they pick for your own information more too why are you doing this and this in regards to is it just to piss you off you will find them extremely helpful. EPA are not like vic roads or the police they have a purpose and a law to follow and unlike my original thought before I went the just follow that and go from there… I was even given a modifying a vehicle hand book to help is what I can and cant do which I think most of us all know about

He also informed me of having a test done on the car which is a complete emissions test and although it's expensive ($1300 - $3000) It is possible to pass with an aftermarket ecu, bigger turbo and a few other goodies which we all like to run all we have to do is get it right....

Happy to answer any other questions people have in regards to all this, of course none of it is law as I’m not an epa officer but I can advise as to what I have been told and the encounter I had.

Any chance I'd be able to get a copy of this book or you know where to get one from?

I have an Aristo that has a big aftermarket single and I will be visiting macleod shortly. I have an engineers cert but that wasn't good enough. Also, did he say what can and can't pass the test exactly? I'd be interested in doing that $1200-$3000 test thing.

ok to pass his test basically the car needs to be stock... As the only thing that can pass is something that has come out of the factory of course with small modifications like 1 air induction mod...

In regards to the test u can basically get away with going to Toyota or one private company who does full emission tests....

He didnt say what will and wont pass but if u do happen to fail the test remember to get it retested u are required to pay another ($1300 - $3000)...

Good luck if you go down the path of the test let me know i would be very interested as to how you get along and if you passed.

I have a standard r33 s2 turbo if you want to borrow it... only problem is its missing the exhaust wheel and the compressor wheel... car still drives but dusn't come on boost :iluvff:

All good sorted on the turbo cheers,

Yead I'd really be wanting to know what passes and what doesn't. I'd be happy to shell out for the test as long as I knew I was going to pass.

yea i know what you mean i also would be more than happy to pay for the test if i knew i was going to pass the problem is you don't know until you go there and let them run all the tests....

Would be super handy if we knew someone who worked for an emissions lab and could help us work out what will and wont pass...

One thing to remember is a brand new fresh cat will always be handy

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
