Hey Guys weird problem, i was driving round yesterday then suddenly noticed that my turbo wont spool up in first gear, if i put my foot flat down from stand still it will but if i take off normally then try and boot it my car will only get to the point where the boost is about to kick but it wont its like driving a NA car. Once i change to 2nd or any other gear tho everything works fine...... :/

Nothing has been changed on it recently

The car is a 33 with a catback exhaust and pod filter

yeah the thing is i checked all the hoses which all appear to be fine.... and like silver said is every other gear works but 1st thats why im lost on this one :D

well i know my car when it was stock it would boost in 1st but after i added all this mods like you said wont boost but if i rev it too about 3500rpm i can take off with full boost.

my car does that, rb25 also

you take off and you can feel it want to go but doesnt n soon as i go to shift you feel the power come on soon as you put clutch in.. have no idea what causes it mate, now i think bout it it happens in all gears 90% of time at night time :D

might be rat sh*t mixtures?

ermmm my car runs best at night... can REALLY tell teh difference when intake temps go from 10-12 deg to 22-25 of daytime

10-12 she pulls 18-22 already gutless but better that a 6 banger n/a, 22-25+ gutless 4 pot pushing up a hill.

always boosts gets positive air pressure anywhere over 2k, full punt by 3k+ no matter which gear.

but even @ 15 deg she;s already prettty gutless, @ night with real cold temps she feels slugish these days though. no guts at all, but reckon thats me getting used t it. Could swear she pulled harder a month-2 ago.

meh

nope nope nope. What ceffie said is correct. make sure the actuator is working.

With my stock turbo, I used to hit huge boost in first. I've hit 16 psi in first when I was testing stuff.

My car when stock used to boost VERY well in first. If your car is not, then you hvae a problem

Yeah see the thing is in the morning it was working absolutely fine, then suddenly it just started happening, i think i went over some really bump railway track and then it started to happen, im not 100% sure that, that was the cause but its only thing that comes to mind that may have been a cause for anything to start randomly going on.

Ill check out th actuator tomorrow, but anyone got any idea why only first gear would cause the problem with the actuator cause that just seems a bit odd that it only happens in 1 gear??

after i added my mbc - i noticed shit take of in 1st . i have a gfb . but im looking at getting something better - because like the turbo tech , they just arent holding boost . maybe that could be your problem - im sure its mine . i also have a leak somewhere , it only starts wistling after iv put my foot down and let it to idle ... i still need to work out where the leak is ! - im also considering replacing all the stock vacume hoses .

check all your hoses - is my opinion.

No the thing is i dont have any boost controllers on its all controlled by the wastegate actuator but if i get one of those turbo tech boost controllers would that help the problem because that would be controlling the boost and not the wastegate actuator is that correct?

Yeah i did check the hoses it was the first thing i did but as you said i might even try replacing all the hoses see if that helps also

Thanks for the help guys

    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
