Some.

Basically the HRT/HSV is run by the dodgy scottsman. To circumvent the rules about team ownership the HRT is technically owned by Mark Skaife & the HSVDT owned by Rick Kelly's Mum & Dad. this article has more truth about it.

wow, this has been brewing for some time. and HRT previously had a problem where it was claimed they were owned by holden when no V8SC team was supposed to be factory owned. TW owned them, and now Skaife "owns" them. I highly doubt they will be booted out though. they will produce some dodgy evidence, grease a few wheels at TEGA then everyone will be happy. personally I think it would be a massive loss for the sport if HRT were given the boot.

I reckon Gary Rogers has a good point. What hope do all the other "privateer" Holden teams have is HRT/HSV are running a four car team & monopolising the money & the factory financing? the sport lacks diversity in makes so it needs diversity of teams. Having multiple car factory teams will destroy that & return V8 racing to the bad old days like the late nineties.

It should be about a level playing field, not a benifit for HRT. Still cheating is something that the HRT & particularly TW are familiar with.

In racing Remember its only cheating if you get caught.

I hope no one really thought that they would ban the Two most popular teams in V8 Supercars.

This was just another stunt pulled by TEGA and im sure if it went through, attendances at Adelaide would drop about 50-60% because Holden fans would not go in protest.

Just really goes to show how "well" the V8 Supercars are organised.

In anything cheating is just cheating. Doesn't matter if you get caught or not.

And here was I thinking HSVDT didn't have any fans left after the crap they pulled at PI.

I'm sure TEGA have only a finite amount of things they can threaten HRT with. I guess exclusion is the biggest stick.

It's downright un-Australian but so is G.M.H so meh

Show me a race team that dosn't test the boundries and ill show you flying swine:)

As for un Australian, i think both Ford and Holden can lay to that since most the stuff used by the Supercar teams is American. Oh yeah we are un Australian too, since owning Skylines and all, just going by that theorie.

Well you could look at the Stone Brother record. Or Dick Johnson racing. Or Gary Rogers. Or Larry Perkins. Or simply point to the fact the rules infringement shit fights seemingly involve HRT more than half the time & everyone else added together the rest.

Point out the bits that are imported. The tyres. The engine blocks. Rims. Diffs. Brake calipers (only now that Alcon won the contract) Not much else... Overwhelmingly the gear is both world class & of Australian manufacture.

A couple of interesting facts;

HRT is "owned" by a company that Skaife is the major shareholder of

Toll racing is "owned" by a company that the Kellys are the major shareholder of

Tom Walkinshaw is the Genral Manager of both teams

They operate out of side by side facilities in Clayton

That's why Tega HALVES their practice days, so other (2 car) teams get TWICE as many practice days.

Harry Firth started the Holden Dealer Team with money mostly from Holden, even though GMH had a world wide "no motor racing" policy.

Larry Perkins STARTED the later day driver swapping in 1982

Although it could be argued that Bob Jane and Harry Firth really started it in 1961.

There have been over 40 driver "swaps" between cars and teams for Bathurst/Sandown

Peter Brock not only swapped drivers, he swapped CARS to win Bathurst in 1983 and 1987

So, very little is new in motor racing politics.

 cheers

"That's why Tega HALVES their practice days, so other (2 car) teams get TWICE as many practice days."

I was of the understanding that the four car HRT/HSVDT got the same number of practice days as the FPV/TKR mob which in turn is the same as the two car teams. From memory it was six test days for two cars.

The budgetary poo fight will be interesting to watch this year. Roland Dane doesn't much like it....

Holden only ever got itself into this mess after Tom Walkinshaw went bankrupt & had to sell HRT in a hurry. Holden wasn't allowed to own it so they had to turn to Skaife and the Kelly family.

You wouldnt happen to be a FORD supporter would you?

what i don't understand is HRT / HSVDT were given 12 months to provide the paper work LAST year. WTF were they doing letting it go on so long with out showing up with the goods.

their time ran up so why not impose a suspension on the team until it was all sorted. Its the only was teams will start to follow TEGA's authority who have had a history of making threats and not following through in fear of alienating the fans / teams / media

    • Haha thanks everyone, I'll take everyone's suggestions into consideration. If I do eventually choose a car ill post it here update on the mods I do.
    • I found the ingredients at larger amounts from a Coffee Shop. 1kg Citric Acid for €8.50 500g Baking Soda for €2.50 I tried it out tonight distilled water (I got from my ACs) and dish soap. It does get bubbly with dish soap. In just two hours the hanger has improved significantly and rubbing against any remaining rust seems to flake it off. I'm going to leave it a little bit longer and see how it goes. I have read that someone even used this solution in an ultrasonic cleaner to clean a seized water pump which brought it back to life.
    • If you like more modern stuff than the R series, you should check out a V37 400R, they are pretty mod friendly
    • Haha luckily we don't have emissions, inspections, or any laws against power adders here. They only thing they somewhat keep an eye out for are ridiculously loud exhausts.
    • Just wanted to pop in an update on my setup. The CD swap has been great, I love the mazworks housing for the overall simplicity. I ended up sealing my trans tunnel with a thin sheet of aluminum reused some of the holes on the trans tunnel, and laid some window sealing EPS foam around the edges. Works great, really quieted things down and sealed up the car.  As for the power comment. Right now I am also running about 650whp. with the way the bell housing is attached to the face of the transmission I have zero doubts it would be fine, mainly because the input shaft and main shaft bearings are seated into the bell housing adapter. This means the load is NOT on the bolts to maintain the power, rather into he casing of the bell housing; Yes the bolts are doing some work there, but with both shafts locked in zero worries.  End of the day, the Mazworks solution is the easiest and safest. no need to take your trans to a shop to get milled perfectly, it fits with minimal clearancing, and you can use all your existing clutch and flywheel.  Driving wise the CD has been great compared to the big box, I'll probably swap my final drive at some point. The serial 9 shifter is gooooood, my only qualm is how tight it is, it takes a fair bit to get use to, 5th and 6th are a bit eh/hard to find at times, but maybe I need re-adjusting, and I think my clutch master is very tired and needs a rebuild.
